It's Snowing! (IX)

Long-time readers of my blog will probably know the significance of this entry. Every year, I never fail to remember to write this entry, because of the rainy weather that keeps prompting me haha.

My body also prompts me as well. Down with flu and constant block nose from the start of the week. =(  The office aircon is terribly cold this week...

Anyway one year ago in this snowy entry I posted this song (if anyone remembers...).

This song is sooo appropriate for this kind of seasons. So does the old McDonald advert song (where it rained when the children visited the zoo). Unfortunately we will never get to see such commercials now. Especially since the government banned commercials which promote junk food to children...

Another song by a local singer, suitable for rainy days:

I remember the time when this song was just released and the radio kept airing it several times a day. Its release also happened to coincide with the end-of-year rainy season haha. Same goes for Tanya's song above too lol.

All these years I always equate rain to snow. Hey, rain is not equal to snow okay... You won't get wet and sticky by walking under the snow haha.

Let's listen to a song by yet another local singer, which sticks more to the title of this entry haha.

Talking about snow, I have to really get my body used to subzero temperatures. Otherwise, even if I survive the coming doomsday, I won't live to see year 2013.

With snowstorms getting worse and worse worldwide, I think I'll just freeze up like this local singer here.

Fortunately Singapore doesn't snow. Yea let's 感动每一刻.

It's snowing! (VIII)

The weather is getting cold lately due to the continuous rains which can last the entire day.

Since October, I've gotten caught in the rain several times, and there are many instances that the rain has greatly inconvenienced me. The worse is, it starts to rain when I'm about to leave home. It rains heavily as I tread under my small umbrella, and becomes lighter when I finally take shelter...

Glad that Tanya shares the same sentiments too. She must be equally annoyed I guess.

Let's keep the temperature, but not the rain...

On usual days I tend to kick away my blanket instinctively during my sleep, but these days I find myself snugging cozily under my blanket all night till the morning.

But then I find my sensitive nose sneezing away too...sigh.

I often try to imagine how I would live in a winter country, or countries with temperature significantly lower than SG's.

I think I might freeze from the cold. Or end up avoiding outdoors by locking up myself up at home all day. Perhaps a constant flu will hunt me as well.

Maybe my dress sense will improve too as I'm willing to put on more clothing. In SG I prefer to keep things simple because I sweat easily. I rarely (almost never) wear an unbuttoned casual shirt over a T-shirt.

Office wear will definitely be more bearable under cooler conditions.

How nice would it be to eat hot spicy food when you're freezing cold. A hot bath would be heavenly too. How about exercising and sweating out at the cold outdoors? I've never experienced that before but I suppose it wouldn't be as physically draining as exercising under the hot sun, high temperature. As for swimming, hah...there is a reason why swimming pools in temperate countries are usually located indoors.

No cold winds please...I've enough of that. They are welcomed during the hot summer though.

Almost forget...Merry Christmas to all =)

It's snowing! (VII)

Ya it's snowing really really heavily at the other side of the world. The terrible snowfall has been making the headlines for the past few days.

Sorry to hear from those whose trip has been affected by the snow, especially Europe SEP students.

I would love to see snow but I can't stand the cold. Looks like I can only tour Europe (in the future) during summer season, just in case such harsh weather were to befall the region again.

2010 is indeed a year of disasters. Watched this week's 焦点, which recapped the natural disasters that happened this year, from the Haiti earthquake to Iceland volcanic eruption to widespread flooding around Asia. Is this really the effect of global warming? (Some people say 2012-effect)

Anyway let's look forward to a better year ahead. =)

Some of you would have noticed that I've started tagging my entries since months ago. This is to make my blog posts easier to search. It's more of a personal thing, since I doubt most of you would want to look back at my past entries, though you're free to do so haha. The tags are self-explanatory, except a few.

Through the tagging process, I noticed that I used to whine and rant a lot in the past. But recently I tend churn out 'essays'. I wonder if readers would prefer reading rants or expository-type content...

And my entries used to be funnier with more humour. Have I lost my sense of humour over the years?

Take a look at this search result (click to enlarge).

WHO is that?? OWN UP!!

It's snowing?? (VI)

Rather than the chill, it's the intermittent rain that is annoying me.

Have you ever had the experience when you're preparing to leave home and the weather is still clear, but the moment you step out it begins to rain heavily? It's time like this when you wished you had left home earlier, so that you can be safe from the rain until you reach the bus stop or MRT station.

Or, how about the experience of going to some nearby place, perhaps a supermarket, to run some errands for a while, but upon leaving that place it starts to rain heavily, and you didn't bring along an umbrella since you thought it wouldn't take long? It's time like this when you wished you had taken your own sweet time running the errand so that the bulk of the rainfall would be during the period when you're still indoors. Rather than just standing around waiting for the rain to subside, not knowing when it will ever subside at all, most of us would attempt to 'beat' the rain, either by running through, or making a big detour for sheltered routes.

The most annoying thing is, just as you thought you've beaten the rain, getting drenched and such along the way, the rain stops. Should have waited a little longer eh?

In any case, short interval rains are much better than long never-ending ones, which might cause huge puddles, floods etc. But the feeling of walking on perpetually wet, slippery, muddy ground is a bit yicky.

Enough of the rain talk, here are some really cute stuff. Still remember the genius monkey, Pan-kun?

His dog companion James has puppies! Really adorable! Look at how Pan-kun plays the nanny.

Pan-kun decides to make some dango (Japanese dumplings) for the grandma who has once looked after him and is going to leave the village. However, something unfortunate happens...whose fault? *It gets touching towards the end.*

Pan-kun's first love?! Will he be able to capture the heart of that female monkey? Will it be a happy ending for the couple?

Few more hours to go...ahh, so excited! ^_^

It's snowing! (V)

*Almost forgot that today is Hari Raya. Shocked to see my parents at home when I woke up this morning. Haha.

It has been freezing cold the whole day. Even during noon the temperature seemed to be that of nighttime. Felt like I was in another non-equatorial country. Hmm, I wonder what's the lowest temperature for today.

Of course, such chilly weather reminded me to blog this entry haha. Well, it has come to 5th installment, and the number reflects the age of my blog. (after subtracting one that is)

My school holiday unofficially starts from today. Borrowed some books from the central library to kill time for the next couple of weeks. This should be the first time I'm being so proactive in reading during holidays. However they are not English nor Chinese books though. Hehe...

Now that my tuition assignment has ceased, I guess it's necessary to become more frugal to sustain my current zero income state. Here are some steps I wish to take in order to reduce my expenditure:

No spending on:
- non-social activities (eg. eating alone, shopping alone)
- anything that can be obtained from the Web for free (cheapskate I know...)
- fashion (after all 不潮不用花钱)

Increase:
- eating home-cooked food
- non-chargeable social activities (eg. boardgames, Servbot's 'creations')
- family outings (we all know why)

I think I need a heater...

It's snowing! (IV)

In fact it's rather sunny right now haha. However it has been raining for the past few nights and afternoons. The ground seemed to be always wet. Not forgetting the rain that spoilt my ATP...

It's Christmas Eve but I'm very sian. Firstly I'm staying at home for the whole of today, and secondly I've guard duty tmr...zzz. Nevertheless I had a fair share of outings during this month. (and there are going to be more coming up after Christmas ^_^)

Went to my sergeant's baby 1-month celebration dinner on Saturday. Glad to see my ORD-ed seniors once again. Wah the house is really havoc. 2 mahjong tables, 2 gaming computers side by side on the same desk (aka control centre) and a home KTV system! Wah lau really power lah. Dunno how much he spent on the karaoke system. Tons of songs also, ranging from oldies to current pop hits. No wonder his whole family is 歌神!

So noisy yet the baby can still sleep so soundly haha.

Yesterday went to watch National Treasure 2. Very nice! Better than the first movie! Though I seem to have forgotten the first one almost completely haha.

9 days more! (not counting down to ORD lol)

It's snowing! (III)

Does this title sound familiar?

Nearly forgotten abt this entry but the faithful December rain will always remind me. =) It has been raining non stop for 3 days. Not surprised if any area was flooded. Maybe we shld shoot a film titled 'The Sinking of Singapore' (shi1 cheng2 chen2 mo4). Even better if we name it 'Sinkapore' lol. Ok not funny.

It seems most camps are very vunerable to rain, you will surely get wet if you were to travel within the camp without an umbrella. That really sucks if it rains very heavily in the morning when you have to report to camp, which is what happened today. Got drenched at the bottom even though I carried an umbrella, all becos of the strong wind that flipped my umbrella inside out. (remember the Sn2 mechanism for nucleophilic substitution?)

What an erratic weather. Rain and stop and rain and stop. Just as the rain stopped, dark clouds started to approach again, then rain. Before the ground could dry, rain came again. Just as I tot the rain's finally stopped, it rained again. Ok I give up.

Yup, this significant entry marks 2 years anniversary of my blogspot blog. To anyone who still remembers my very-the-colourful geocities blog before, I think it looks very stupid.

Ya, it also marks (more than) 1 year since I left schooling. Sigh I miss studying.

I vowed not to countdown towards ORD until I reach at least the halfway mark. Counting up to 8 months of NS service! Yay =p

It's snowing! (II)

Are you wondering why is there a '(II)' beside the title when there is no first part to begin with? Well, I had an entry with the same title in Dec last year...haha. Maybe every Dec from now on I'll have an entry with 'It's snowing!'.

Back to topic, it's really a chilly day today. The ground has been wet for the whole day and the weather is cooling. When I woke up this afternoon, I tot it was quite late, like 4-5pm when it was actually 1pm, haha. Can't tell time during rainy days...hee

Ate some tang yuan just now, yummy! The good things abt them are the tasty fillings and peanuts that I applied on the surface, whereas the skin is just tasteless and hard to chew. Even plain bread and rice taste better than the skin...

Love Concierge never fails to amuse me in every episode (for now). Definitely one of the funniest show I watched this year! (and next year hopefully) I highly recommend watching it! (If you're prejudiced against mediacorp dramas then ignore it.)

A new Christmas-themed Grow! Yay! Nice music too!

Blogging has become such an 'in' thing nowadays. Even news reporters are blogging too...lol

It's snowing!

Wah...the weather is so cold nowadays that I believe it's going to snow in Singapore soon...haha. Then I'll go and build snowman, go iceskiing... Yesterday night I'm certain that the temperature had reached 20-22 degrees, the air con temp. liao. Btw did the temperature of Singapore ever reached below 20 degrees before?

Sigh...the tsunami death toll has already increased to 77000 liao. Heard the toll is expected to top 100000, which is such a shocking figure! This is quite possible, considering that contamination and diseases are rampant now, and probably ppl dying of starvation and homelessness will add to the toll too. Seen some forums where Americans are posting ignorant comments like "God is doing population control" or comparing this natural disaster to other events like Iraq war and 911 or saying America shld not send aid to countries which oppose American acts, etc. The worst I've heard was "Osama is behind this disaster"...lol...Osama so great meh, can hide undersea and move the tectonic plates...haha. Some ppl raised that since certain affected countries have planned not to celebrate New Year because of this tragedy, shld Singapore cancel the celebration too? It's not very nice to celebrate when our neighbouring countries are suffering from this unfortunate event. Anyway, it doesn't matter to me since I dun celebrate New Year.

Seen some videos of the first few waves of tsunami, tot I would share with you all:
http://politiken.dk/media/wvx/3537.WVX
http://home.pacific.net.sg/~honwai/tsunami128.wmv
These are only those harmless ones, where ppl still can get excited over them. If you want to see the more destructive ones, watch the news lor...seen a lot in yesterday's news.

Tot of making my family photo into a jigsaw puzzle, does anyone know any shops which provide this service?
