After these few days of playing warcarft, I think I'm addicted to it liao. Whenever I turn on my com, I'll have the urge to start the game. I've begun to go to bnet and play, not dota but a random custom game. For dota I think I'll familiarise myself with the heros and items first, to avoid being constantly scolded by teammates. Played 3v3 cos I think it requires less skill than 2v2 and 1v1 (anyway I'll never touch 1v1 cos dun have enough strats and counters to handle a solo game). Lost 3 times >_< then won once. Was so happy during the game when our team spirit was displayed. Somehow I prefer working as a team rather than to go all out by myself. Actually I'm very dependent on my teammates...
Recently no motivation to mug at home. Dun even feel like taking afternoon naps anymore. Just want to keep playing warcraft. Maybe I shld practice some self-control cos there are lots of other things I need/want to do, like tutorials (this is just never-ending), band pracs (syf is just in 5 week's time), writing letters (yes, still going on), reading comics (started on a new comic abt mystery), etc a lot more. The next holiday would be fully packed too, with 2 new RPGs coming my way. (Dynasty Warrior 5 coming out...yay!) I think I shld let go of my studies a bit and focus on my interests and try out new stuff.
Today was council elections nominees'intro for J1s. (Still have vivid memories of what happened for council elections last year) Roughly have some idea abt who to vote liao. Aiyah heck care lah...doesn't really affect the J2s anyway. The only thing I benefited was the long break we had after it ended very early.
Started on food chem today, quite interesting I shld say. Getting very close to bio already. I think bio is very fun lor, regretted not taking it for O lvls. I wonder why there isn't a combi of double maths + bio + chem, otherwise I might choose that...hehe.
Eh...block test results...so far so good. Maybe I shld say after receiving back all my papers. Hmm...maybe not, like anyone cares (only I care).

All Set
Kena thrashed by vector spaces in fm paper today. Couldn't visualise the qn at all, except for one which I cannot reason out. After the paper when ppl were discussing it then I go, "Why didn't I think of it?" Like what my pri sch teacher said last time, cannot see means cannot see, boh bian. For most ppl, they can't see during the paper but after that they will see the light. Exam conditions always stifle our brain, so we must work under standard conditions (298K, 1 atm, 1 mol/dm3) to display our full potential.
After that went to Sim Lim to buy WC3:TFT. Yeah, dunno whether it's still worth it to buy the original after the game has been released for a long time. Waste of money some of you might say...at least now I've sth to do in my com other than surfing net.
Then went to buy 2 RPGs for PS2: Suikoden 4, Ys VI. (Woah...a lot of money to spend...*but keep in mind they are pirated*, cheap cheap!) Looks like I'm all set to switch into gaming mode liao!

Sad
Yesterday's chem free response qns were difficult, esp ionic eqm. Realised I dun really understand the topic of ionic eqm at all. There are so many assumptions in the calculations that they are making me confused. I think I got the wrong answers for all those qns...just hope some working marks can be given. Quite a few marks deducted for carelessness, lack of elaboration...sigh.
Today's physics was worse. Some said it was ok while I think it was difficult (maybe cos my physics is poor). Careless in mcqs, no time to finish structured (as expected), skipped qns, cancelled several wrong workings (which made my paper very untidy) and didn't pay attention to basic stuffs like sig figs, etc. Expect to have a lot of random deduction of marks. So sianz after the paper.
Only fm left, I dun think it would be an easy paper. Anyway happy holidays.

Block Test
Block tests are always so demoralising. They wake up our senses, tell us to work harder, in such a merciless manner. Dunno if setting killer qns would actually help students or make them worse. Luckily so far the papers dun kill.
GP yesterday, haiz...did as slow as a turtle. Shall not elaborate further, the more I say the sadder I feel. Anyway I've checked the dictionary and found out that I got all the 5 vocab words wrong. Prepared to fail GP...yay...yay...yay...yay...yay...sobz...
Maths today, a great motivation compared to GP. Found out that I got wrong for the very first qn cos forgot to change to radian mode to evaluate inverse trigo >_<. Why!??? I also discovered a trend where I always seem to screw up the first qn of every maths paper. 1) last year's bt - partial frac, forgot that it was an improper frac. 2) promo - inequalities, both sides were mod of quadratic fuctions, squared both sides, got a quartic eqn, dunno how to solve. 3) today - integration, forgot to change to radian mode. 4) july bt - ??? Learnt from my mistakes, but more mistakes keep appearing. Hopefully this trend can be broken...shall pay more attention to the first qn from now on. *points to thyself and sings: dee-you-am-bee-oh, dee-you-am-bee-oh...*
Tmr chem, I'm ready to sing to myself again.

Lifeless
Most of you shld be wondering why I didn't blog for this past one week of march hols. Not that I'm so terribly busy like the week before Capriccio (even then I've the time to blog). Simply becos I've nothing to blog abt, unless you want to know the detailed process of how I study for the coming block test. Yea...I practically locked myself at home for the last 5 days or so, diligently mugging new tutorials, looking thru past notes (argh...so time consuming!). In a blink of eye the week is almost over...didn't step out of my house even once ever since Monday where I have sectionals (kinda weird to have sectionals just after the concert). Spent 70% of the time in my room reading, mugging, eating, sleeping...occasionally touring the rest of my house, looking at what things are happening in the 'outside world', like bro playing his WoW, sis whining away, parents watching tv...boring. Can't believe I actually spent my one week of hols liddat. I think this is my worst sch hol in 10 years probably.
Of course I'm not totally lifeless, spent some time on the com reading comics too, like 'Full Metal Alchemist' which I've started recently. In times like this, comics are your best friends. Tot of asking some friends out but I think they are rather busy with cca. 1 week is too short to have any fun, I guess I've to wait till June hols, when we're all free from cca. Getting a bit sick of my house now (yea...'homesick'), can't wait for sch to reopen, seriously. Hmm...there's sth else to look forward to...LOTR:FOTR screening on ch5. I missed it when it was on theatres 3-4 years ago (same old reason: nobody to watch with), as a result I've no motivation to watch the rest of the series. Most ppl around me shld have watched it already and when they talked abt LOTR, I dun understand anything...so sad hor? (Wonder how long will it take for the next 2 movies to be screened on tv...) So next time if I ask anyone to watch a movie with me pls dun reject ok? *with pleading eyes* Dun want to wait for another few years before I can watch the movie swarmed with spoilsport commercials.
Reading of notes/tutorials alone already took almost a whole week...no time for any practise >_<. Gotta get stumped again by qns that I shld know how to do... By right I shld be more worried abt my GP...I've done nth abt it...hehe. I rather spend my time focusing on subjects that have more potential of scoring well in, instead of subjects that relies on general knowledge (I've little of this), luck (type of qns/popularity of qns/comparison to others' scripts), teacher (if the marker dun like your writing/has bad mood, then you're dead). Luckily I've already an advantage somewhere, that is, the PRCs around me. But shldn't rely too much on that...some are better than me liao...sigh, what a shame.
For huangcheng ppl, hope the performance was successful and you all enjoyed it. Didn't go to support cos I cannot find anyone to go with. Actually not really lah, I didn't bother to ask anyone...was waiting for others to ask me, but apparently nobody asked so...liddat lor. (a bit da pai here...heh) Aiyah, already got so many supporters liao...I wun make any difference. And, those ppl...are they there to watch the performance genuinely or merely supporting their friends? For Capriccio I think it's the latter...see how the stage was flooded with audiences last sat...which is a good thing, since we didn't play very well for the first half. (Overall it wasn't exceptionally good too) But it seemed that the audiences dun really mind, and were still giving out flowers as per normal during the interval...hee.
Study hard for block test!

Capriccio
Yay...the long awaited day has finally come. Spent the morning preparing the section presents, in a goodie-bag format. Arrived to sch in the afternoon, did some stage technical stuff and some prac before we were dismissed for a long dinner break. That was also when many ppl (who haven't bought any presents yet) went to Coro to buy sth. Exchanged many presents and small notes to one another...received a lot of chocolates...heh (which I ate on my way home). Slowly, the public started to stream in...saw many familiar faces.
The concert didn't start exactly at 7pm cos the audiences were late. Finally at around 7.15 the concert commenced. The general comment for the first half was that it was played badly (esp trombone concerto...a 1878 piece whose arrangement sucks). The only good item which saved the first half was the percussion ensemble...I think it was quite well done. Then came the interval, where many ppl rushed up to stage to give presents to the band members. The stage was so terribly crowded >_< worse than last year...didn't know the band has so many support! Received some flowers/presents too, from the band seniors.
The second half was much better, with pieces that the audiences were more familiar with. Didn't hear any major flaws in the pieces so I assume it was well played. Ppl shouted encore...as expected, and we played the encore piece. There was also supposed to have another impromptu encore which some band ppl weren't being informed of. Some of us stood up...the audiences followed and started to leave. The horn encore was gone...sigh.
Took many pictures after the concert (realised that it was so difficult to gather a section of 10 ppl for photo taking) until we were chased from the left wing to the canteen, to outside sch. =S
Most probably the last concert in my whole life, shall always cherish and remember it. Wasn't very nervous compared to the previous concerts, just played normally like in practices. Didn't squeak a lot either, although I did play wrongly at some parts (hope no one noticed my mistakes). Stayed focus and played what I'm supposed to play. Overall I think this is my best perfomance of my 6 years in band, even though it's not very perfect. Want to thank my section for being with me for the past few weeks of intensive pracs! All of you rock!!!
This marks the start of march hols, time to mug for block test next week. Heard that huangcheng ppl are exempted from block test...good for them lor.

The full band...I'm just right in the center, first row...very easy to spot.
The saxophone section, one of the most enthu section to perform ensemble for Capriccio.
The percussion ensemble, received many compliments last night.
Section photo!!! I'm beginning to like my section liao!

End of Term 1
Haven't been blogging for a long time...cos I returned home late for everyday this week, too tired to type an entry. Time flies, it's the end of Term 1 liao. The 'first 3 months' is over and soon the juniors will be wearing the Hwa Chong uniform. We'll have our block test 1, then block test 2, next prelims, followed by A lvl and finally we'll have to bid farewell to hc. Come to think of it, 2 years of JC life aren't that long after all. It just serves as a transition between sec sch and university (that's why JC is called pre-U education). I still can remember vividly what happened a year ago...CNY, JTS, fac chalet, o lvl results, STJ...(partly becos I've photos of them...hehe)
Tmr is my long awaited Capriccio, might be the last concert I'll be performing in as a band. I wish everything would be smooth sailing, no screwups, and hope the audiences will enjoy listening to our Phantom of the Opera and Pirates of the Caribbean (the rest of the repertoire I doubt anyone would be interested in). Gotta prepare a lot of stuff tmr, esp gifts for my section!
Today is a rare day where I've no band prac, but that stupid Sterling talk (complusory for all chem s students) had to spoil it. And that chem make-up lesson too, I dun really need the answers to the tutorial since it's easy. What a waste of my afternoon! Went shopping alone after the boring lect, at Orchard. First time going to Orchard alone...was a bit lost, kept walking back and forth looking for a particular store. Went to Perlini Silver...wah lau the stuff so ex >_< so went to a big taka gift departmental store, then saw charmaine, michelle, yanru and junjia. A bit awkward since i'm not very close to them. Thanks to michelle I finally chose what to buy for my section...hehe.
Somehow i'm rather excited abt tmr...maybe cos a lot of my friends are watching me...

JTS
Talentime results...dun wish to comment abt it, simply becos I know too little abt such music to judge the groups. Anyway it's over, we can't do much but to accept it.
Yesterday was JTS at San1 Zhong1 Liang3 Jian1, a chinese restaurant...weird place to have JTS. The food is quite expensive and they taste like my homecooked dinner, with rice, veggie and meat. Seriously I dun find anything special abt the food (or maybe I dun appreciate them). The total amount spent that night was $1080+ =S dots...piangz. Somemore the treasurer wasn't there, someone had to tao yao bao withdraw money from ATM. This is the most crowded treating session I've ever been to. Even though it's JTS, more juniors came than seniors...and there were grand seniors too!
After JTS, went to play pool with Youcheng, Jieying and Xiaoxuan. (actually xx and I planned to play cards there...) This is the 2nd time playing pool proper I think...the first time was like exactly 1 year ago, during the march hols last year. Kept hitting the white ball into the hole...haha. Was quite good at first, until the end where I started losing accuracy, probably qiu sheng xin qie.
Today is supposed to be half day cos of A lvl results. For the band members, no such thing... We had to go Singapore Conference Hall to rehearse out SYF pieces...sianz. Wanted to play cards there while waiting also cannot. There was supposed to be another prac after we return to sch up till 7.30 pm, but luckily it was cancelled...yay...tired.

Talentime
Friday was the release of A lvl results...saw a lot of seniors coming back, guys almost bald and girls leaving long hair. Happy that most of my senior class scored 4As...kinda inspired by them to study hard for the coming exams. As for those who didn't get 4As, I think it's quite good already. It's like getting 90/100 when others get 100/100. Btw one of my juniors got last in class for O lvl even though he scored L1R5 7...what a mugger class!
Yesterday(sat) my whole day was spent in school. Band prac from morning till late afternoon, so exhausting! My lips are going to rot liao >_
Talentime was ok...besides watching the performances that my friends participated in, the rest of the items dun really interest me (except the girl who sang Jie Shou and Hei Se You Mo). I dun quite appreciate English songs...esp the fast paced and rap types. Saw a very enthu batch of parents and relatives cheering for the boy who was rapping away on the stage...they were waving their bouquet high up in the air, shouting his name... (How I wish my parents and relatives will support me to that extent during my band performances...haha) Realised that the judges favour Chinese music/songs (cos 2 out of 3 of them specialise in mandarin pop). Congrats to Wenjia for getting 2nd! Congrats to David for getting 2nd! Congrats to Xiaoye for getting 2nd! (those I knew all got 2nd postion =S) The overall champion for Talentime is a vocal group called LOVE, who sang some English song + rap. Dunno leh...I find it difficult to appreciate their singing >_< even though many think they are very good. Special thanks to Stacy and Yaqi who accompanied me that night otherwise I'll be sitting alone by myself.

Wei3 Da4 De Mrs Lee
2nd Badminton lesson for PE today. Feel that I dui bu qi Wenjia cos I played so badly. Make him feel that PE is so boring and he didn't enjoy enough. So sry. Ppl are complaining that I always hit the shutter too high...and my serving sucks also =S
Today during chem lect Mrs Lee was laughed at for her poor english, then she started to explain that she studied chem in chinese in sch and had to switch to english in order to teach. It's quite difficult to completely adapt to a new language esp a science subject with lots of terms to remember. Already very good for her to reach such a standard. Maybe I shld not tease her for her bad pronunciation anymore... But I would like to listen how she teaches chem in chinese...haha.
Argh...my prac skills really sucks. Did a lot of failed QA tests, dunno why...the ppt just don't like me. I sense a lot of contamination going on...
Supposed to go for napfa project sbj training today, but on seeing that the section needed me, I decided to stay for sectionals. Btw I can only report for napfa training next term (next week also not free cos of band prac)...hopefully wun get scolded. Must take initiative to train myself at home also.
Today's chem s was quite fun. Mr Pang is such a good lecturer...can understand everything that he says. And he can crack jokes with a straight face one. Maybe that's his occupational hazard...haha.

Leading a working life
Feeling very sian and stressed nowadays cos have to stay back for band prac up till abt 7.30pm everyday, reaching home at 8 plus. After bathing/eating/etc, it's already 9 plus when I can finally settle in front of the com and perform my daily routine. By the time I've done with that, I'm already too sleepy and tired to start on my tutorials and homework. Ended up falling asleep while the lights and radio are still on. Almost cannot catch up with tutorials liao...S paper tutorials untouched, esp chem s. Ever since CNY, I haven't read my bread comic at all. Even my weekends aren't enough to compensate for the loss of time during weekdays due to a lot of activities going on, inefficiency in completing tutorials fast and make-up sleep (I spend abt half of a weekend sleeping lor). I wonder if I'm leading the adult working life now...go out early, come home late. Maybe it's worse than working life cos I always reach home later than my parents =S (and my parents need not do homework, unlike me). Sigh...when is this going to end...
Band advertisement: Come for Capriccio!! 12 March (first saturday of march hols) 7 pm, hc audi, $6 per tix...come and support the band ok? (or at least support me...)
A lvl results will be released this coming Friday (the day after tmr)...looking forward to see my dear beloved seniors again...haha. Wish them good luck! And erm...PW?? Actually I dun really care liao...get A then happy lor, get C or below then too bad lor.
