1 year after

If you guys still remember the absurd entries which I churned out during the A lvls period, yup it has already been a year. This time we are looking at our juniors mugging hard for their exams. It seems that I've forgotten how an exam stress feels like, esp rotting with my time at home in front of my com for the whole year round, watching animes and playing games without any thoughts of reading up the past notes and textbooks.

All the best to my juniors as well as my ns friends who are retaking A lvls. Be confident! You guys can do it! One month shld pass very soon.

Lalala...so free so free...

A lvl results

Did anyone see the chinese news? Hwa Chong was featured! Congrats to those who appeared in the report, esp Ivan who became the media's attention for the 2nd time! Still can't forget the news article pic where me and Yong Feng were lifting Ivan...haha. Hmm, how come only hc was featured? Ok, I think we all know that the chinese media favour hc/chinese high...hee.

Congrats to yf too, he's so happy with his results =D.

Haiz, how come so many ppl got B3 for GP? It's like the standard grade for GP lor, and I'm below standard! Nvm, it's my very first B in GP...shld be happy liao.

S papers IMO had the most tyco results (as tyco as A2 in O lvl English). I'm really clueless of how they grade s papers one.

Why no S34???

What a disappointment. Doesn't she enjoy teaching classes besides her form class?

Anyway thanks Mrs Lee for dedicating a message for S34! n_n

Adventure's over, time to appreciate my home... ANIME!!! MANGA!!! PS2!!!

Prom

A nite of chiobus and yandaos, din really see enough but nvm haha. Was late thanks to the turtle bus, and Youcheng. Din expect him to lose his way, so had to lead him there. Everyone was just taking photos outside the ballroom and the actual programme din start until abt 8 so we were still in time...hehe. A fresh sight of so many schoolmates in their smart suits and pretty dresses instead of the 'usual' school uniform.

However I din completely enjoy the prom cos of my damn shoe. The sole came off and I had to limp like a bai ka throughout the ceremony. Was trying very hard to make sure I look as if I was walking properly. Hope nobody noticed my shoe while I was walking, so embarrassing. And hope they will think I sprained my leg or sth...haha. My shoes have never failed me for the past 6 years, why must they wear off at such grand event??? Anyway, I wun need to wear these black leather shoes for a long time, so the sole kinda came off at the right time...hehe. Really liked this pair of shoes. T_T

My class was quite pathetic lah, only 8 came: 4 at one table and the rest were dispersed. Even though there were only this few, gathering all of them for a photo was a very difficult task. Din notice much differences in the guys, on the other hand the girls looked very different with their makeup. Esp Jieying, her hair was quite nicely done. In the photos Jieying looked so unrecognisable!

Wah, shuai ge mei nu xiao jie xiao di uncle auntie!

The band members also gathered to take a group photo. Not forgetting section photos too. I love the clarinet section!!!

That two guys childish as ever.

Basically prom is just a phototaking session, the food is secondary. Talking abt the food, it was not very nice IMO, tasted weird. The helping was extremely small, probably cos of its funny taste some ppl might not want to eat so much. The drinks were wat kept me full. The programme consisted of merely entertaining competitions. Served as a display of eye candies too.

Ma-yi-ya-hee Ma-yi-ya-hoo -__-

Took abt 30 photos, few compared to others. Yay, so many pics to admire ^_^. Brought two sets of batteries, but both almost went flat...zzz. Among all the couple photos, I think this is the nicest:

Eesuan's pose so cool!

Mong arrived slmost at the end of the programme, dunno watsup with him. Then Kaizhi pulled Mong, Youcheng and me to cine pool before the event even ended... Actually wanted to see till the end but nvm. Pooled, then went to join the crowd outside Wisma pub to chit chat and stone. The pub is only strictly allowed for ppl 18 yrs or above. Too bad for Dec babies like Youcheng and Mong, I cant possibly go in alone. Someone got into trouble for faking identification in order to get in, sigh.

Chatted abt NS with the taxi driver on the way home. Haiz, still no letter yet.

I was thinking, the formal suits and gowns bought for this occasion, are they going to be one-time-use only? After today will they just be gathering dust in the wardrobe? Are these expenditure really worth it just for one night and some photos?

Sentosa

Went to Sentosa today with Bingye, Wu Rong, Yingying, Dawei, Chen Xi and Zhao Chong. Felt odd being the only pure Singaporean there but I still had much fun with my classmates. (much better than being the only senior among a junior class outing) Chen Xi wanted to go to the beach so badly, so we had no choice but to make Siloso Beach our first stop, and get ourselves sunburnt under the scorching noon sun. I'm not the sporty type and I dun intend to swim in the sea either, so went to play with the sand instead -__-. Helped Wu Rong and Yingying a little to build sandcastles then they helped me dig a four-way undersand tunnel. Very excited when we finally dug through the other side of the tunnel. ^_^ I'm still so childish.

I look so stoned in this pic >_>

Then Chen Xi hurt his foot while playing basketball and decided to go home, (why does he seem to get himself hurt in everything he does?) while Zhao Chong went skating. The remaining 5 made their way to Underwater World (still as ex as ever) for the likes of the girls. The interior has changed since I went there eons ago, with additional display of sea creatures like jellyfish and crabs (or they're already there long ago?). The fish still look the same lah, so is the travelator tunnel.

Proceeded to Sky Tower next, but we thought it's more worth to ride the cable car on our return trip to mainland. The tower doesn't look tall to me, probably can't see much up there, at most the whole sentosa island only. However the perception of relation between height and angle of elevation/depression can be deceiving. A small increase in height may result in a wider scope of view. Ok, I'm getting mathematical now, dunno whether you understand what I'm talking abt. I may be wrong though.

Went pizza-ing (I'm the greedy one) before going to Dolphin Lagoon. Without monorail, getting around the island is quite tedious. The buses can be very very crowded at times, can be very frequent, or can be late for several minutes. The roads of sentosa are teeming with buses.

I remember someone used to show me a pamphlet from animal activists reqarding the ill treatment of the dolphins in the Lagoon. Those dolphins look very skilled and well trained to me leh, can perform remarkable stuns so easily. As for the way they're treated during training, I dun really care lah, haha, as long as I enjoy watching them then can liao. Cross reference to NS.

Bingye and Wu Rong went to take a close-up photo with a dolphin for $13. I dun feel worth it cos they only touched it for a few seconds before the personnel requested them to siam. (cos there was a queue) The photo may look nice but for $13 it's rather ex I think.

Last stop cable car. This is my 3rd time on the cable car. The car moves so fast, not enough time to enjoy the bird eye's view leh. Took all the way to Mount Faber but ended up taking a bus down to terminal again. At least we spent twice as much time on the cable car than alighting at harbourfront, made our 9.90 more worth.

We shifted the centre of gravity of the car greatly when taking this pic

My hands a bit dirty today, touched sand, touched seawater, touched fish, touched stingray, touched snake... Bingye is the 'worst', in addition he touched turtle and dolphin. =S

See you guys next year!!! (for now)

Many thanks for Bingye (our dearest lao da) who initiated this outing!

Yay, Wild Arms and Suikoden Tactics! Yummy! More to come soon!

Final Class Gathering

Yesterday went to kbox with Saykai, Jieying, Chen Xi and Youcheng. I think Saykai sings really well, he deserves the best singer award...haha. I sing like reading a passage, cos I only know the tune but not the lyrics very well...hehe. Thanks Chen Xi for introducing the Elephant and Weiqi songs, we really like it. Even though we sang for 4 hours, I still feel it wasn't enough. Same goes for my past kbox outings. Seems like singing is addictive lol, once you start you wun feel like stopping.

After that 5 of us met up with Shuk and went Mong's aunt's house for class bbq. This is the last class gathering, since the prcs have to return home next week. Attendance was quite good: 19/24. Probably the best out of all the class outings we had in the past 2 years. Ate a lot, but din help much...hehe. When it comes to bbqing food so many ppl are enthu to do it, so I shall satisfy them lor. Then played cards before we left. Actually I wanted to take a group photo one, but nvm...

Bingye suggested we visit the nearby lanshop but it was so small and full, in the end Chen Xi, Dawei, Youcheng, Shuk and I decided to go Bukit Timah SC to lan instead. 1st game we own until they quit, 2nd game kena owned, 3rd game play halfway cos lanshop closing. It was 1 am then, taxi time. Hardcore hor?

A bit bu gan xin so I went home to play one more game. The stupid host chose shortmode and in the end the whole game becomes all abt pushing. With phantom lancer and clinks with the opponent how to win. >_< Grrr...

Then spent the next few hours packing my stuff. Shld I throw away all my prelim/BT papers? How abt FM compilation of qns? Will they come in useful next time? Ok, I'm in a dilemma.

Har, guess wat time I slept? Hoho.

Defence of the Chemistry (Final Showdown)

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: I can’t take this humiliation anymore, let’s go!

CaptainPhysical: Go where? Back to Cambridge?

CaptainInorganic: No you idiot! We’re going to take Servbot ourselves!

CaptainPhysical: Whattt? You kidding?

CaptainInorganic: With our powers combined, I’m pretty confident we can defeat Servbot. Besides we are unlike those previous creeps and whelps who are capable of doing nothing except getting themselves killed.

CaptainPhysical: Aren’t we taking a huge risk then? What if we get ourselves killed too?

CaptainInorganic: You’ve been asking me questions ever since I started! Stop it and get moving!

CaptainPhysical: Uh, as you wish sir...

-------

Servbot:

"Without Crestfall, I’ll be dead if Chemistry sends another wave of creeps."

*big red dots appear on the map*

"I see, so the captains are going to face me themselves."

-------

Battlefield:

CaptainInorganic: We are going to defeat you once and for all!

CaptainPhysical: But...isn’t it unfair for 2 against 1?

CaptainInorganic: Who cares, DotC is all about teamwork. If Servbot plans to fight alone then let him be!

"Fine, I accept. I’ve to get rid of you sooner or later."

CaptainInorganic: Good! Let the fight begin!

*suddenly somebody cuts between Servbot and the captains*

CaptainOrganic: Wait, I shall deal with Servbot first...to prove my strength!

CaptainInorganic: Ah ha! You’ve finally appeared. Where have you been all these while?

CaptainPhysical: Haha, more like to prove your weakness?

CaptainOrganic: You shall see. I will defeat Servbot!!! Alcohol Haze!

*Alcohol molecules begin to swirl around Servbot, blinding his sight*

"Hah...that’s easy!"

*Servbot gushes out hot concentrated sulphuric acid in all directions, dehydrating all the alcohol, leaving behind immobile liquid alkenes.*

CaptainOrganic: Hmph...it won’t be easy the next round. Carboxylic Blade!

*Carboxylic acid molecules shoot towards Servbot at high speeds.*

"Carbonate Shield!"

*Servbot conjures a giant brick made of carbonate in front of him, blocking the beam of carboxylic acid*

*Psssssssssssst*

CaptainInorganic: If this continues we might die of carbon dioxide suffocation.

*Psssssssssst*

*Finally the brick crumbles just after all the acid have been neutralized*

CaptainOrganic: No! Ketenenenenenene!

*Ketenes swarm around Servbot, threatening to knock him down with its sharp carbonyl end*

"KMnO4!!!!"

*Servbot blasts the strong oxidizing agent, cleaving all ketene into small molecules*

"Come to think of it, all your compounds are so reactive in one way or another. It’s so easy to counter your attack."

CaptainOrganic: Then I shall release my most inert possession... Tetrachlromethane!

*Splat*

*Servbot wipes off the tetrachloromethane on his face*

CaptainPhysical: ...

CaptainInorganic: Small, non-polar, unreactive, what damage can it do?

CaptainOrganic: Whaaat...

"Are you done yet? Now’s my turn!"

*Servbot takes out a huge toy hammer and whack whack whack*

CaptainOrganic: Benzene Barrier!

*A buckybenzeneball forms around CaptainOrganic, but was quickly smashed in pieces by the hammer*

"The final whack!"

*BAAAASH*

Servbot just pwned CaptainOrganic’s head for an extra 200 gold!

CaptainInorganic: Useless...really useless.

CaptainPhysical: I told you so, Organic is such a weakling, he can’t fight.

CaptainInorganic: Forget about Organic now, it’s time for us to fight. Get your auras ready, Physical!

CaptainPhysical: Yes sir!
Energetic Aura: Increases attack speed
Kinetic Aura: Increases movement speed
Electroaura: Increases attack damage
Equilibaura: Maintains balance between health and mana

"Wow, that’s a lot of powerups! Anyway why is equilibaura so lame?"

CaptainPhysical: What do you mean lame??? With that, as long as our mana pool is large we will never die! Muhahaha!

CaptainInorganic: Actually I kinda agree with Servbot.

CaptainPhysical: Whaaat?

-------

"Storm Hammer!"

*CaptainInorganic gets hit by the hammer and is stunned, Servbot continues to whack*

CaptainPhysical: Bleaching Chlorate!

*Servbot’s hammer becomes soft and blunt*

"How dare you!"

*Servbot takes out an Enpitsu and starts stabbing. CaptainInorganic is no longer stunned.*

CaptainInorganic: Ligands’ Plague!

*H2O, CN-, Cl-, NH3, SCN-, OH- binds onto Servbot like leeches, obstructing his movement and slowing him down, and dealing damage per second*

"Shit, I can’t shake it off"

1800/1800......1700/1800......1600/1800

CaptainPhysical: pH Minus!

*sprays aqueous solution of pH = -10, which corrodes Servbot’s skin at an alarming rate.*

1200/1800

*the ligands disappear and Servbot regains its speed again*

"Servbot’s Hole!"

*A dark mysterious hole appears on the ground below the captains, attempting to suck them beneath the earth.*

CaptainInorganic: Erase Group II!

*All Group II elements temporary disappear from the surroundings*

*The earth beneath the captains becomes soft and eventually crumbles, forming a huge crater and the dark hole disappears*

CaptainPhysical: What the...don’t go around erasing elements like that!

CaptainInorganic: That spell will not affect us. Moreover it saved us, be thankful instead!

CaptainPhysical: Uh ok...anyway it sounds like a cool skill to have.

CaptainInorganic: Actually I can erase carbon and it will render Organic useless...haha.

CaptainPhysical: He’s already useless as he is...haha.

*Servbot hurls his Enpitsu towards the captains who are happily chatting away*

CaptainPhysical: Careful sir!!!

*CaptainPhysical defends CaptainInorganic and gets stabbed through his body. (ouch!)*

CaptainInorganic: Phy...Physical!!!!!

*CaptainPhysical collapses on the ground*

CaptainInorganic: Grrr, Servbot you shall pay! Ammonia Flood!

*Liquid ammonia floods into the crater where Servbot stands, engulfing Servbot while CaptainInorganic brings CaptainPhysical to safety*

"Argh...the smell!!!"

*All Servbot’s stats decrease by half*

600/900

CaptainPhysical: I... am... ok... don’t... worry... we... unleash... the... final... blow... *coughes out blood*

CaptainInorganic: You sure you can perform it?

CaptainPhysical: Yes... finish... it... once... and... for... all... lets... call... upon... the... four forces... of... nature...

CaptainInorganic, Very well then… The 4 Forces of Nature Gather!

CaptainPhysical: Gra... vit... ation... al... Force!

CaptainInorganic: Electromagnetic Force!

CaptainPhysical: Weak... Nu... clear... Force!

CaptainInorganic: Strong Nuclear Force!

CaptainPhysical, CaptainInorganic: UNLEASH THE ION CANNON!!!

*The sky starts to roar, and seconds later, a strong thick blinding white bolt of ions descends from the clouds and strikes the crater at an extremely high speed, ionising everything in its vicinity*

CaptainInorganic: ???

Servbot has been slain by Chemistry. All Chemistry players get 800 gold.

CaptainInorganic: Yes! We did it!!!

CaptainPhysical: Yeah... it... was... worth... it.

CaptainInorganic: I will bring you back to camp quickly.

CaptainPhysical: Wait... Organic......

CaptainInorganic: Yes, I’ll bring him back too…come on, let’s go!

*what is knowledge and inquiry???????*

Not the end yet

Was lying on my bed just now when I suddenly plunged into a dream (or probably it's just simply thoughts). I was looking out at a blank window, thinking that everything has come to an end. No more school, no more studying, no more exams, and most importantly I wun get to see my classmates again. A few faces started to pop out, and most likely I wun see them ever again. Quite bleak.

Ok, then i woke up...>_> At least this 'dream' is not those ridiculous unlogical type and it speaks true of my mind. The only difference is, during the dream I felt that everything is going to be lost and I did not want my school life to end, whereas after I woke up that sense of loss just dissipated. Why be so sad? I've (almost) completed the A lvls and I shld be happy abt it. Furthermore not being to meet some ppl ever again is so common along our path in life. Whenever we step onto another stage of education (ie from sec sch to jc), we will surely lose touch of many ppl. Going to school for so many years, we've met and left several ppl along the way. Unless we're really close to a person, we shld become immune to such separation by now, no reason to be reluctant to let go of our current social circle. A few months from now, we're going to form a new circle and everything will start anew with a fresh experience. Isn't that what we've been doing for the last 10 or so years of our lives?

It's time to finally pack up my stuff and draw down the curtain. Since like dunno when I've sleeping beside a messy table full of books and paper. Shall fold up the table soon and keep it in the storeroom. (oh wait, my house doesn't have a storeroom...hehe) It's like closing down a stall liddat...haha. As for my study cupboard, I wun empty it for now unless I find something more important to replace the contents, which wun be the case for the next 2 years. I'm not the sort who burns tys and throws aways notes and tutorials after the exam ends...haha.

I'm going to wear the hc uniform for the last time this friday. Dunno what to do with it after that. My tchs uniform has disappeared, dunno if it's thrown away or sold to garang guni liao.

Looking forward to the final class gathering! Make sure everyone in the class attends!!! (esp wenjia...i've never seen you attend any outings before)

The End?

Haven't been online for almost 48 hrs liao, many things have changed, esp from those who have just completed their A lvls. This shows I'm so dependent on my com, half of my life is from it mah...hehe.

Anyway when the invigilator was giving out the writing materials this morning, I suddenly had the feeling that I was taking 2 3hr maths papers consecutively. Felt a sense of tireness and fatigue.

After the FM paper yesterday, 7 of us went to Orchard. Kaizhi and Mong went to pool while Saykai, Jieying, Thazin, Youcheng and I wanted to catch Harry Potter (not literally). It was a terrible period to get seats in Cine. (why must the paper be in the afternoon???) Almost every seat was booked, except the you-know-seats. Discussed for a long time before deciding to go Lido instead and fortunately we were able to find seats there. The movie would start rather late, so we went into a time-killing spree by filling up our stomaches and looking ard for eye-pleasures.

HP is not bad, kinda rushed though. Even with all the rush, the length of movie is still so long. Sometimes I wish I haven't read the book so I wun try to expect what is going to happen next (and probably be disappointed). But if I dun read, I might not understand the story, leaving me bewildered like the last 3 movies. Nevertheless I liked the movie! ^_^ Hmm, I noticed Dumbledore appears to act so rashly...>_>

The movie ended past 11pm, for the 4 of them it was ok but for me...hehe. Anyway whether I study or not it will still yield the same result. The paper today proved me right. S paper ah...so unpredictable, anything can come out, how to study???

Might get merit or below, but at least my result slip got more lines to see. I admit I'm not a material for s papers or olympiads. There's sth lacking in my brain to tackle such problems.

Compared to math s, FM was ok.

Defence of the Chemistry (3rd Strike)

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: How do you suggest we deal with Servbot? All our past attempts have failed...

CaptainPhysical: I think we shld use numbers to overwhelm him, we will surely die if we try to face him one on one. Hmm, I've an idea. We shall creepblock and accumulate up to 40 creeps. 30 melee creeps specialising in Direct Attack and 10 ranged creeps specialising in Deduction Attack. That shld take exactly 10 waves, we must hold out until then.

CaptainInorganic: Fine, we shall adopt your strategy then. Get your wards ready!

CaptainPhysical: Hold on, I think we shld enhance the creeps' fighting abilities further by applying auras on them.

CaptainInorganic: Good idea! What auras do you suggest?

CaptainPhysical: The Energetic Aura, which improves the attack speed of creeps, the Kinetic Aura, which increases movement speed, the Electroaura which increases attack damage as well as the Equilibaura which regulates the balance between the creeps’ life and mana. Leave everything to me!

CaptainInorganic: Wait, I dun understand. Why do creeps need mana? For Servbot to absorb?

CaptainPhysical: ...

------

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: How is it going? Are we ready to attack?

CaptainPhysical: Sry for the delay. We’re still gathering creeps. Howver it seems like one of the melee creeps generated is defective. We’ll replace it as soon as possible.

CaptainInorganic: Hurry up pls. We’re almost behind time.

CaptainPhysical: My apologies. Anyway I’ve tagged each of these creeps a yellow scarf so we can recognize them from the others.

CaptainInorganic: Good job. Anyone who sees the yellow scarf will fear Chemistry!

-------

Servbot:

*senses a large crowd coming his way*

"shucks, no more bombs left"

"Crestfall! I need your help!!!"

-------

Dalaran Ice Temple:

Rylai: What the hell… did someone call me or sth?

-------

Chemistry:

CaptainPhysical: Releaso!!!!

*removes ward...the creeps start marching towards Servbot*

CaptainInorganic: Hey dun block the way.

CaptainPhysical: Err...then where do I stand? I need to provide the creeps with my aura.

-------

Secret Shop:

CaptainOrganic: I dun get it, why am I always behind the other two captains... Errpp... One more hyperstone pls!!!

Leragas: Sigh. You had too much already...one more and you’ll be hyperdrunk.

CaptainOrganic: Argh...I dun care! Dun you dare stain my wool coat too. Just gimme that hyperstone. I’ve tons of gold!

Leragas: ...

-------

Servbot:

o_0 "they are coming..."

"hmm, who’s the first in line...huh atomic mass?" =S

"Hmm, some creeps look extremely familiar, it’s like I’ve defeated them before."

CaptainPhysical: Attack!!! Aim for Servbot!!!

*the creeps start to surround Servbot*

*Bish Bish Bam Bam…*

"argh...I lack aoe spells!"

*1200/1500*

*1000/1500*

*700/1500*

*500/1500*

*200/1500*

"arghhh…shit, I’m stuck...can’t move"

Suddenly the sky turns blue. (hasn’t it always been blue?)

Rylai: HERE I COME! Behold my Blizzard Storm!

*novas and blizzards erupt and splash over the whole "screen", annihilating almost all the creeps*

"Wah so powderful!!!"

Rylai: Of course, I just had an aghanim. Ultimate anti-creepblock!

"Eh, I tot it was Freezing Field. When did it become Blizzard Storm?"

Rylai: Heh heh, freezing field doesn’t sound great enough. I want to add a blizzard element too. Anyway my work’s done here. GTG!

"Bye Bye!"

"Sigh, din manage to completely own this time. Apparently some creeps got away."

-------

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: Argh! I’m sooo angry! I’m fuming!!!

CaptainPhysical: Yea, yea, I can smell the HCl gas from miles away.

CaptainInorganic: Where were you? What were you doing when the creeps were wiped out?

CaptainPhysical: Well you see, I’m rather susceptible to temperature changes you know, and...

CaptainInorganic: KKK...I get what you mean. Where’s Organic? Haven’t seen him lately.

CaptainPhysical: Uh...ran away hiding probably. Forget it, he’s useless. He can’t fight. All he does is playing around with his functional groups, everyone knows his tactics.

Seeing Stars

Now I understand the plight of those ppl who had to take 2 papers on the same day in the morning and afternoon. Just before the chem paper I was seeing stars, like the feeling when you just walked out of a movie theatre. Luckily it did not affect my concentration much, still able to think as well, but slower. Moreover it's only a 1 hr mcq paper. Imagine those who took physics and econs on wed! They might have suffered but now they can enjoy liao. Sure enough, I heard some girls screaming like no one's business after the chem paper. Some classes went out together after that, I envy them. Cos my class doesn't seem to have organised any class outings and such. Just eagerly waiting to say bye bye to A lvls and the school. Sigh...

Did they run out of bleaching agents or sth? How come the qn paper is yellow...a bit not used to it. Only a few unsure qns, shld have no careless mistakes I hope. I did a qn using the wrong method and yet able to get the correct answer (what luck!). Ya, I've come to a conclusion too: Cambridge is indeed lazy. Sooo many reused qns, like phy. Once again, yay for those who practise on their tys regularly.

How many freaking times have we taken an FM paper with graphic calculators? Why do ppl still say they dunno how to reset the calculator??? Say so loud somemore (instead of seeking help from neighbours quietly). Dun they feel any sense of shame? And pls lah, dun expect the invigilator to know how to operate the calculator ok? It's this kind of idiocy that makes me so annoyed.

The good thing abt FM exam is that the topics tested in each paper are completely different. Easy to study. Whoever tries to send a spot-topic msg for FM shld be shot not once, but 1 million times man!

The weather is acting rather weirdly at my place. When I was in the LRT it started to rain heavily. When I walked out of the station it stopped. When I reached my doorstep it rained again -___-. The moral of this story is: I din get caught in the rain.

I want to watch Harry Potter!!! By hook or by crook!!! *throws tantrums*

Exam Do's & Dun's

No, I’m not going to talk abt pre-exam stress and its related symptoms. Actually I’m rather surprised that most tips and guides for students abt handling exams only focus on what to do before the exams, how to cope with the stress effectively and so on. They usually say stuff like sleep well, relax, close your eyes, etc, which I think most ppl must have already heard umpteen times. But they fail to deal with the practical difficulties that a student might face in the exams itself. Perhaps those who write the pre-exam tips are mainly teachers and parents, who probably have never taken an exam for a long time, thus they only know methods like sleep well, drink water, go toilet and all the gibri gabra. A clear mind before an exam is as important as one during an exam. Some might suggest taking a break during a paper, closing our eyes for a while and relax, then resume with the paper. This is no good. When you relax, you brain becomes inactive and by the time you get back to the qns, your mind might be blank and unable to think as well. Also, you will lose the momentum and slow down. It’s like walking/stopping in the middle of running 2.4km. Ensure your brain is always active so that you can think faster, write faster and be more time-efficient. I’ve made a list of some specific in-exam difficulties, some dos and duns, which could arise in some way. They might sound trivial but they can really slow you down if you spend too much time thinking of how to avoid or overcome such problems.

1) Nature’s Call:
Pls, pls, pls, if your bladder is more than half full (or half empty if you call it) before the exam, go and empty it before the paper commences, esp if the paper is going to be 2hrs or more. You wun know when your bladder suddenly fills to the brim. Leaving for the toilet halfway during the paper is not only time-consuming, but also makes you lose momentum when you return. Some major exams require you to surrender IC, or ask the invigilator or somebody else (non-candidate of same gender) to accompany you to the toilet. You will want to avoid all these hassle.

2) The Sound of Music:
Some people think they are adding music to the exam silence by clicking their pens repeatedly, tapping beats and rhythms on the table, slapping their rulers and making whatever combination of sound you can possibly make on the stationery. These are neither music nor sound, just pure plain irritating noise which will tick your tocks, I mean thoughts, away. If someone near you is making such noises, stamp your foot (but not so loud) and hope that the person will realize it and shut up accordingly. Such ‘music’ isn’t appreciated at all.

3) Blow Wind Blow:
Whish, whoosh! Your light gentle script is being blown to the ground, probably to a place you can’t reach it. What shld you do? The only thing I can say is, you’re out of luck. Blame yourself for leaving your scripts without a paper weight if you know there’s going to be wind blowing from the fan or outside. Two possibilities. Firstly, let’s hope a kind soul will help you pick it up and return it to you. However a kind soul is no more if he or she gets accused of cheating. Secondly, call or wait (the former is better, less time wasted) for the invigilator to pick the script up for you. This is bad for your concentration if you really have to do this. Prevention is better than cure.

4) Beyond the Line:
Applies for cases where you have to write your answers on the qn paper itself. Hmm, either you’ve made a major mistake or have too much to write. The lines provided aren’t enough. That’s worse if you aren’t supposed to use correction fluid (affectionally known as liquid paper). Remember what your teachers say abt answers beyond the line will not be accepted by examiners. The lines are there for a reason, writing beyond them just shows that you’re not being precise. (if the expected answer is too much for the lines provided, then setter is being unreasonable) But on your part, think before you write!

5) Excess Denied:
Dun bombard the marker with an essay intended for a 2-mark qn. If you’re the marker, you wun be pleased too. Make up your mind in what to write. It’s like buying lots of combinations in a lottery hoping that some will strike. Dunno what the examiner expects? Write more! Dunno what will appear in the answer scheme? Write somemore! Eventually your answer will amount to an essay. Time is deprived too. Bad.

6) Destruct and Destroy:
Cancelling a long bunch of workings which you took pains to produce, or even crushing the entire paper, can lower your morale and confidence . Not forgetting to mention the time lost too. The old saying goes, look before you leap. And pls cancel nicely.

7) Please Turn Over:
Especially for maths papers, careful not to let your answers to the same question overflow to the other side of the page or another piece of paper. Firstly you’re making it tough for the marker and secondly it’s harder for you to refer to answers in the prev parts. Thirdly, some markers are blur enough not to notice your workings on the next page. They think end of page = end of answers. Hence the loss of marks. Beware!

8) Absolute Zero:
I’ve mentioned this before in my earlier entries. Never leave blanks, write at least something, you’ll never know if you can grab a lucky mark for that. Blanks will confirm grant you no marks at all. On the other hand, crap can give you hope. It might even come in handy when pleading for additional marks to push grade. Argue your way through! Haha.

9) Numb Number:
Particularly for physics. Dunno what form to leave your numerical answers in? 3 sf, 2 sf, 2 dp, standard index or the very-exact calculator value? The latter is usually not recommended, unless it’s used as an intermediate value in the immediate step. (that’s what the ‘Ans’ function is for). Most of the time, leaving final answers in 3sf is the safest. Standard index is good for relatively large and small values. Count your digits carefully. Always work with SI units to be safe, since physical constants are all in SI units. (I’m sure you all know the reason why temperature cannot be in degree Celsius in the gas equation right?) For maths, leave in exact form or fraction if possible, unless specified.

10) Blurger King:
This case is rare but does happen. Some can miss out parts of a question or even an entire question because they think there are no more questions left. Usually occurs at the last page of the paper. This is deadly cos you can lose tons of marks from those blanks. Dun feel silly for flipping over to a blank page, it’s better safe than sorry. If you feel that there is an excess of time for a paper, you probably miss out something.

11) Skippy Peanut Butter:
Skipping questions that we dunno how to do is a technique that we’ve probably learnt as early as Primary 1. It does carry some risks too. We may not have time to get back to the skipped qn after all. Or we may not know how to do the qn even after returning to it later. Or we may take a longer time to figure out becos we forgot what the qn is abt. No matter what you do, be sure to prevent Absolute Zero.

12) A Message from the Tree:
Requiring a fresh piece of paper merely for one or two lines is some kind of wastage.

Ya, I know this entry shld have come earlier. >_< Anyway hope you’ll find this helpful. Any suggestions of what to add onto this list?

End of College Awards (Part 2)

Best Lecture Notes: (not in order)

-Root and Polynomials (FM) by Mr Koh YH (the humour employed in the notes is exhilarating!)

-Hydroxy/Carbonyl Compounds (Chem) by Mr Sam Lee (neat, organized and concise)

-NMR Spectroscopy (Chem) by Mr Teo ME (very detailed…in fact it’s over-detailed)

-Analogue Electronics (Phy) by ???, assuming it’s by Mr Ronnie Quek (looks very clean and fresh)

-Hypothesis Testing One/Two Populations (FM) by Mrs Jasmine Yap (they are really nice to read! Got comics somemore)

-Complex Number lecture series (MA/FM) by Mr Koh YH (I can say that Mr Koh produces the best lecture notes in the maths dept)

Worst Lecture Notes: (not in order)

-Moment of Inertia (FM) by Mr Tan YM (Words and diagrams so small, no place to copy examples somemore)

-States of Matter (Chem) by Mdm Ching MY (almost everyone shld agree with me...nuff said)

-Arenes (Chem) by Mrs Ho LY (clearly no effort was put into making this set of notes)

-Oscillations (Phy) by Mr Lee LJ (very unorganized, dunno what to copy where)

-Applications of Differentiation (MA) by ??? (Diagrams, explanations and examples all mashed together. There are copied as well as printed example solutions...I’m so confused)

Most read lecture notes:

Maths Section A: Integration (esp its applications part)

Maths Section B: Vectors (this topic is so forgettable)

Chem: Chemical Periodicity & Group VII (always cant memorise those reactions)

Phy: Physics of Fluids (so much stuff to memorise)

GP: Forget it

Least read lecture notes:

Maths Section A: Standard Graphs, Functions and Linear Transformations (esp the
very ‘extra’ proving techniques at the front)

Maths Section B: Mathematical Induction (is there really a need to read this?)

Chem: States of Matter (just what we already learnt in O lvls + some new stuff which is easy to handle…furthermore it’s one of the worst lecture notes -__-)

Phy: Errors and Uncertainties (there are more worthy notes to read than this)

GP: Everything

Zzzzz...I suck at describing experiments.

FM:Describe how the exact value of 'pi' is determined. Name apparatus. Show theory pls.

Another message

Hey here are e predicted topics from pang-Chem bonding, electro chem, equilibria, kinetics, periodicity, trans elements, organic type of rxn... pass e word ard :)

Now I see the relation: the prev msg was from Mrs Pang, this one is from Mr Pang. Are they husband and wife or wat? Both like to spot topics also. Anyway is Mr Pang married in the first place?

I dun wish to repeat myself. Anyway I feel all these unnecessary spotting of topics are not very reliable. What if some other topics come out? Roll over and die issit? We can't really tell what is going to appear in the A lvl papers, I doubt the teachers can too, although they are supposed to have more experience than us. Also, looking at the topics mentioned above, dun they cover almost everything in the core syllabus? -__- Moreover I dun think anyone will have so short a memory such as to forget what they studied last week.

Probably I will receive another msg tmr. Maybe I shld start the ball rolling. Here is what I plan to write:

Hey study these for phy by Jun Pang - units, uncertainty, kinematics, dynamics, circular, gravitation, thermo, electrostatics, electricity, circuits, alt current, capacitance, analogue, waves, shm, magnetism, quantum, nuclear & fluids. Yupz study hard & good luck! :)

End of College Awards (Part 1)

Anything that I've experienced in my two years of college life is eligible for this award!

Top 10 Tutors:

10th) Miss Deborah Wee – A J3 relief teacher last year for chem. Din like her at first becos of her teaching style, then began to realize she’s actually quite friendly and amiable. Aka the pms/act-xiong-buay-xiong, act-cool-buay-cool teacher.

9th) Mr Tan YM – He just teaches, teaches and teaches. I only thing I can remember is him orbiting ard the classroom like a satellite as well as the big ‘HUH’ he gave when I told him I din do my tutorial. -___-

8th) Miss Cindy Chong – Another J3 relief teacher last year for phy. She teaches very well, better than most phy teachers. (Shame on you, phy dept!) She appeared in the papers before.

7th) Mdm Yeo LH – Our ‘beloved’ J1 CT. The presence of Wong makes her seem like an angel. However, she emits tons of sleeping gas during her lectures and tutorials, even more than my sec 4 phy teacher. Get ready Esuna!

6th) Mr Lee LJ – He is shy, his jokes are cold, he stammers a lot, likes to blow air into mike, likes to say ‘I’ll go faster’ and then slows down. But once again, the presence of Wong makes him seem like an angel.

5th) Mr Alex Tan – Our PE teacher for 2 years. Not exactly a tutor but it’s fair to include him in this award. If not for him, I wun be able to pass my napfa. A nice and friendly teacher too. ^_^

4th) Mrs Lee CK – I think she’s the only teacher who bothers to send sms to every of her students before the exams. Bothers to give so many extra lessons too >_>. Very caring but somehow I dun feel very close to her. I shall not comment abt her English.

3rd) Mr Koh YH – The subtle similarly between he and I...haha! *scratches head*

2nd) Mr Sam Lee – The teacher who seeks to know more abt his students. Teaching is clear and concise. Lectures are interesting too. A gamer like me...hehe. Well known for his sadistic gummibear video.

1st) Mrs Jasmine Yap – Ah, the young and pretty teacher! Friendly, Understanding, Considerate and...*ahem* Nice. Undeniably the best tutor in my 2 years of college life. The feeling of closeness is there, very approachable.
Ok, she is Kind.

Top 5 Non-Tutors/Lecturers

5th) This slot will be left empty cos after much consideration there is no lecturers worthy of this position.

4th) Mr Pang PC – The leng mian xiao jiang. He cracks a joke with a straight face and everybody laughs except him. >_< The way he lectures is superb, if only he is not the discipline master...

3rd) Ms Kwee TC – Wahahaha...she’s a natural joker! Unlike her Section A counterpart she emits lots of laughing gas. Get ready a pillow!

2nd) Mr Andrew Yap – The card magician! Too bad he *poofed* after lecturing us only a few times early this year. His stories are interesting too, unlike the other you-know-who maths lecturer who has nth better to say.

1st) Mr Ronnie Quek – Wah, what a surprise! A phy teacher somemore! Everytime he lectures I would definitely learn something new from him, unlike others who like to repeatedly emphasize on simple stuff we already know. I love his humour too. ^_^

Worst Teachers:

Physics Paper 1 is not bad, in fact I think it's easy. This is the first physics mcq paper which I had more than 20 min leftover time to check my answers. Checked all my answers thoroughly, shld have no mistakes. Just as I tot the phy dept is lazy in setting their own qns, Cambridge is even lazier. Sooo many reused qns, I can shade the answers immediately just by glancing at those qns. Hurray for those who had practised on the tys! (for those who din, sry to say that you've lost out in one way or another)

Let's shoot ppl who signed their OMS with ink. After so many years of shading they still dun learn that everything on the OMS must be written in pencil...aiyoh.

Ok, most ppl will agree that paper 2 is crap. I think so too. The calculations are ok (glad that cambridge is sensible to let us show an answer) but the qualitative parts are ... unorthodox. (a nice word there) Dunno how many countless times we're required to draw on that pencil-unfriendly graph with extremely thick and dark grid lines. This has happened before in O lvl phy prac 2003 (if any of you remember it). I really hate drawing on cambridge graphs, they make my graphs look almost invisible, even after I try to thicken my graph further. All the interpolations are practically impossible to see, hope the markers wun be so particular abt that.

Just a reminder. Dun leave any blanks, you're just stabbing yourself. Write crap if possible. I'm sure most of you already know this right?

Tabletime

I noticed that I seldom use a table to study. Most of the time I put books and notes on my lap and lie/sit on my bed to read. Not healthy I know, but quite comfortable! Hehe...

Time to plan what I'm going to do after A lvls! A bit inappropriate but while studying I can't help thinking about how I'm going to enjoy myself after the exams. Basically there are two things I can do: (i)stay at home, (ii)go out with friends. No lah, not planning to find a part time job. Firstly I'm lazy and secondly I'm not prepared to work at all, esp in the service sector. (ya, the irony...even though my nick is servbot, I dun like to serve ppl) Appalled by stories abt how ppl working in service sectors get bullied by unreasonable customers. As for jobs like clerk, nah! Too boring and I can't type well too. Ok, I'm fussy.

Staying at home for me is not as boring as what most of you will imagine, cos I think my home is virtually an arcade cum cybercentre. Much thanks to my bro who buys video/comp games at a rate comparable to that of girls buying clothes. Right after A lvls I will immediately throw myself into a gaming spree!

Hmm, as for going out with friends...will decide next time.

Without my enlistement date confirmed, I'm really clueless of how to plan my time effectively. I need to be mentally and physically prepared you know...

I wonder if there is a need to memorise the values in the electromagnetic spectrum...

This is a dummy entry, just feel like writing something. Refining the End of College Awards.
