Diligluttony

I haven't fully retrieved and reorganized my lost files yet, but things are roughly back to normal. All the frustrating configurations and installations really consumed a lot of time, which I could have made use to finish up most residual work before CNY.

Hope to finish my part for two projects before I start visiting relatives tomorrow. That's why I've been quite hardworking these days haha. Probably going to burn the midnight oil again tonight.

The past few days have been pretty cold. On Monday I was freezing even after walking out of the LT, thanks to the breeze after the rain. Tried to walk faster to warm up my body, but it made the wind blow past faster too...blah.

Thanks to the rain too, I couldn't go for a jog or something before this sinful period starts. Was intending to exercise a bit before I turn into a glutton. Heck...we live to eat haha.

Why do people usually eat steamboat during CNY? I think it's because we can simply cook on the spot if we want to eat. This is convenient for homes with a lot of visitors/families coming at different times.

I don't usually get to eat steamboat during normal days anyway, so I don't mind getting sick of steamboat around this period.

Why are yusheng pieces so thin? After all the lao-ing, the pieces simply disappear. Well, they don't taste nice anyway. I would rather scavenge for the keropok.

Why is this entry so random? I just want to leave an imprint for this festive season. Happy CNY. =)

*Turns into a glutton*

Moonday

I always wonder why are there so many different names referring to the same day. Mid Autumn Festival, Mooncake Festival, Lantern Festival, etc. This means there are several meanings attached to this day, which makes it more significant than other non-public-holiday festivals. If it's not a public holiday, I doubt most people will look forward to it right?

Ok I used to look forward to Mooncake Festival (I prefer calling it by its associated food haha) very much when I was a kid. At night, I would go to the nearby park, 'chope' a place at the playground and start lighting candles. On every MAF night, that park would be bustling with activity. It was like some huge candlelight party. This seemed to be the only day when I can play with fire without getting weird stares from people.

Other than packs of candles and matchsticks, I would also bring sparklers and paper lanterns (those traditional ones where you've to insert a candle inside). Throughout the years, I began to feel that strolling around with a lantern is just too boring, so the poor lantern became a nice target to burn. I would shake the lantern vigorously after setting it up, so that the candle inside will fall a burn the entire lantern heh heh.

The main enjoyment, however, is still forming patterns on the ground with candles. How did I dispose of the candle boxes and other resulting rubbish? Burn them! Haha. Yea I dug a deep hole in the sand pit and threw everything inside and burnt them. Then I would just cover the hole up. How convenient. =p Is that considered as littering? Anyway now that most playgrounds don't have sand, this method doesn't work anymore.

The park indeed looked spectacular on that very night, but the next day it was totally in a mess, with waxes stuck on every corner, and ashes badly littered all over the ground. I pity the cleaners who have to deal with such debris that the 'tradition' has left behind.

Now that I've grown out of this fire-playing, the thing that keeps me attached to the festival is the food of course. Yum yum! Mooncake is tasty but fattening. Well, it should be fine since it's only once a year haha. Prefer those snowskin ones, but baked ones are fine with me too. I don't mind the egg yolk, though I always find it hard and tasteless after putting it in the fridge. Durian mooncake is not bad too, though it's a luxury. Haven't really tried those special flavoured ones, but some people say they tasted terrible haha.

There seem to be so many things you can do on this day, like moon-gazing. Sadly I can't see the moon from my room now. I'm still very amazed how the moon can shine so brightly even though it doesn't emit light on its own.

There is also this 猜灯谜 thingy, but it often ends up telling lame riddles. Those authentic riddles can be really hard to solve.

Occasionally Mooncake festival will coincide with my birthday haha (once in every n years, where n is a number more than 10 perhaps). This is especially a big affair in China where every citizen will celebrate my birthday in conjunction with the festival. =p

Sparkling August

Fireworks cost a bomb, bought using our taxpayer's money. Wouldn't it be a waste not to watch the free display?

The YOG closing ceremony marked the end to the fireworks galore this month. Which other month of the year can you see so much fireworks?

Since NDP and YOG are important national events, their fireworks display should be more extravagant and spectacular, compared to CNY and year-end countdown.

With the absence of Fireworks Festival since last year (usually held after National Day), I had been itching to watch decent fireworks again. Couldn't resist the temptation and went to watch the three consecutive major fireworks display this month. Indeed it didn't disappoint, as the displays were definitely up to standard.

IMO Esplanade Waterfront is the best spot to view fireworks at Marina Bay, especially when the main event is held at the floating platform.

Here's my take on the fireworks displays I had watched.


NDP (from Raffles Place)

Yay:
- Longer continuous display
- Known/predictable timing

Nay:
- Poor angle/location, sky partially blocked
- Far too crowded everywhere
- Too smoky (as seen from the lump of red luminescence on TV)
- Less variety

Grade: B-


YOG Opening (from Waterfront)

Yay:
- More colourful/variety
- Perfect view & proximity
- Laser beam & fireworks fired from skyscrapers clearly visible
- Great impact
- Not very crowded

Nay:
- Sporadic (discontinuous display spread over the 2-hour show)
- Undefined timing (have to standby throughout)

Grade: A


YOG Closing (from Waterfront)

Yay:
- Beams from buildings filled the entire nightsky
- Very colourful, more variety (I like the super-loud & blinding-bright ones)
- Even less crowded
- Closer to floating platform, more aware of what is going on at the ceremony

Nay:
- Unknown timing (just have to be at the right place at the right time)

Grade: A+


Didn't regret spending time staying put at the location and waiting for fireworks. Although the extent of fireworks used cannot be compared to that of other wealthier countries, I think it was still splendidly choreographed. Looking forward to the fireworks next year!

Five Fingers Arising

Actually wanted to do something special but lots of planning is needed and the entry might become too long. It cannot be broken into separate parts also. Anyway let's leave it to next time when I feel like doing (I've a strong feeling that the time will never come).

My 3-month internship has come to an end and a new semester is starting again. A shift from one battlefield to another haha. Really hoping for ideal results in tutorial balloting so that I can secure a free day. However this semester may prove to be as busy as the last. The nightmarish lab sessions (or rather the reports) are here again, and for the nth time I've managed to beat the odds by not being able to group up with JH, who is just next to me on the name list.

I've completed most of the missions I aimed to accomplish in FF13. Now I'm ready and prepared to face schoolwork. It's probably another 4 years wait or so for the next FF. By then I'll become a working adult cum addicted gamer. No school holidays for me to utilize and chiong finish the game. =(

Before I forget let's wish Singapore a happy birthday. See how loyal I am by not going overseas for SEP. =p

Since my first experience watching fireworks display some years ago, I yearn to watch it every year without fail. The beautiful bright sparks in the night sky, together with the blast that reverberates right into the heart, combine to give an indescribable feeling of thrill and excitement. You don't get such feel just by looking at photographs or watching videos of fireworks, no matter how well-taken they are.

The weather seems fine today. Looking forward to a fantastic display of sights and sounds later. =)

Since this year's National Day theme is about our flag, do you know what the 5 stars on the flag represent? Some of you are probably trying to recite the pledge now. It makes me wonder how we were able to memorize this passage word by word without understanding it's meaning during primary school.

See and Whine

For obvious reasons, I neglected my blog for almost 2 weeks. We all know what takes priority for a student.

Very relieved that the CNY break cum recess week is here. An early pit-stop would mean that I'll have to endure more for the next subsequent 8 weeks. High chance that school work might accumulate to even more than what I had experienced for the past week. No thanks to the disappointing email which came few days ago.

Enough about school, let's talk about CNY.

Since n years ago, I've heard people, especially youngsters, complaining about how the CNY atmosphere isn't as lively and bustling as in the past, which makes them look forward less to the festive season. As for me, whether the atmosphere has dwindled or not doesn't matter that much and I still very look forward to CNY, for various reasons:

- Compared to my childhood days, I'm not as excited when receiving hongbao anymore, but receiving some cash still has the value of being looked forward to. The total amount received is not much though, but it still gives me a little more spending power. Despite inflation throughout the years, the amount in each packet never changes. I wonder if 10 years down the road people will still give the same amount. Can tradition be ever adjusted to suit the economy?

- Food!!! Eating good food makes me happy haha. Although people rarely visit my house, my mum still buys snacks and cookies every year. The guys in my home will then quickly finish them up hehe. Unfortunately most snacks my mum bought aren't that fantastic (some even tasted like plastic/rubber), so I normally eat a lot at my relatives' house haha, where the quality is much better. My mum doesn't buy bak kwa, so I've to eat them elsewhere. Therefore, the first thing I do upon entering my relatives' house is to scavenge the table for goodies haha.

- Anyone noticed these few years there is always a four-day long holiday? As long as chu yi falls on a Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Thursday there will be an extra long holiday. So the chances are actually quite high eh. Sadly this year's potential has been wasted, thanks to the flexibility in adjusting the term calendar. For dating NUS students, won't it be a double whammy? Hahaha...

I wonder what I can eat tomorrow...yum ^_^

不管三七二十一

After a series of 21st birthday celebrations of my friends this year, it's finally my turn! Initially I didn't really pay much attention to my 21st birthday. I felt its significance is not any much different than those in the other years. However the excitement and sense of importance of such birthday seem to be induced onto me as well, via organised parties and other mass events. As a result I saw how major others view 21st birthdays and hence went on to reciprocate such sentiments.

Taking sociology has taught me to think various phenomena as being socially induced, but sometimes it seems that we are merely putting the 'blame' on society rather than the consequences of our individual actions.

Anyway it has been a pretty enjoyable week! With both mid term tests and outings coinciding, it was a busy and hectic week as well. By the way if you guys were wondering what I really want for my birthday, which I didn't explicitly mention at all, I shall explain them now. (have thought of them long ago)

Food - Yup as simple as that. Treating me to good food will never go wrong haha. I don't have a sensitive tongue so most food can easily please me. This week saw me eating out (and loads!) several times and I feel so sinful now. Have to start exercising more as a consequence of my greediness...

Memorabilia - In simple terms things that can't be given to anyone else except the birthday person. However it requires a great deal of effort to prepare, which most would prefer to avoid and just go for bought products. I don't mind a photo frame but please insert a photo as well. Likewise I don't mind a photo album but please add some photos. For diary please at least write something inside. For piggy bank please put money inside as well. Lol kidding =p.

Japanese related stuff - As a ardent 哈日 person, I can't help but to appreciate the beauty of Japanese products and language. Since hardly any of my close friends are 哈日 fans, it can be quite difficult to understand what a 哈日 person really wants haha. But if anyone were to hit on the spot, I would be extremely overjoyed. =)


Anyway it's over haha. It's time to embrace the presents I received and get on with life. This is an overview of what I've received this year, the most presents so far! (should be the last time I receive that many as well)



Leather sling bag - It's lighter than my usual school sling bag and can store more stuff than my minibag. Useful to have it as an in-between. Moreover it has a simple design which I think suits me well. Thanks Zhui Xing!

White wallet - Indeed a radical wallet out of my simple black style. Not very used to its numerous compartments and colour haha. I guess this can serve to infuse some fashion sense into me by my 时尚顾问 XH. =p

Golden key - Wow, my parents bought this from a jewelery shop, so it must be rather expensive. Unfortunately I don't feel independent enough to 'use the key' yet. Being pampered too much already haha.

Jigsaw puzzle - The sunset scene of the Sydney Opera House looks really tranquil and serene! Makes me feel comfortable just by viewing the picture. However it would be till the December holidays before I start piecing everything up. YF, must remember the 'hope' wo.

Hawaiian chocolate - Oishisou! (Looks delicious!) Really eaten too much during past few days so it would be better to wait till I'm hungry enough to appreciate its taste. Thanks YF, JH, ZH trio for understanding my appetite!

Exquisite pen - This present came as a shock as I didn't expect KC to remember my birthday, let alone give anything. Glad he gave me the chance to savour the 'ultimate desert' - (ice)cream puffs once again!

Last but not least all the wonderfully-made birthday cards! The one my sis made was really 眼花缭乱 with lots of colourful stickers haha.

With so many glorious treats and pleasant surprises, I feel so blessed! Thanks everyone who wished me happy birthday in one way or another! It has been a great birthday!

Two Blue Moons

1) Trip to East Coast



Thanks to Zhui Xing, I was able to ride a bicycle for the 2nd time in my life! The 1st was 2 years ago. Luckily I still remembered how to keep my balance, and still had the courage to lift both legs off the ground onto the pedals, though my turning still sucks. The feeling of having strong winds blown into the face while speeding downslope once again is indescribable.

Fortunately the weather was fine, though it threatened to rain at times. Overall it was a really enjoyable trip!


2) Family Buffet

Went to Orchard Cafe @ Orchard Hotel for a high class buffet feast in celebration of my Mum's birthday. Everyone was present, including my bro whose attendance in family outings is very rare. The previous family buffet was 2 years ago, without my bro. This is the most extravagant dinner we ever had, amounting to $48 per pax. Of course for such price, the food was mouth-watering and the desserts were heavenly. Wished I could pack some home. Once again I ate the most (tried to taste as much variety as possible) and the bloated feel lasted till next afternoon.

Took the chance to take a rare family photo. I suspect the last time every family member was present in a photo was almost 10 years ago... (even before my sis came)


I think last week was really an astronomical phenomenon for me.

April 18

18th of April seems to be quite a significant day for me. With notable events happening on that day on certain years.

- Day of my first SYF competition during Sec 2. Was feeling very tensed on that day and shook with fear on stage, so did not perform as well as expected. Became a sad afternoon upon hearing the shocking results and almost everyone ard me cried.

- Day I failed my first TP test. So silly to mount kerb at the crank course. Quite disappointed as my efforts in practice sessions (and $$$) had gone down to the drain.

- YF's birthday! Used to have a countdown in his blog haha.

- Last but not least the day I get back my pink IC and freedom! Coincides well with YF's 21st birthday. Can have a big celebration together that night haha.

CNY 2008

It has been a fun CNY this year, with me going out every of the 4 days enjoying myself. After much difficulty in jio-ing ppl out, I could finally get to watch all 3 movies! Yay! All 3 were good, but none were extremely impressive IMO.

CJ7: A heart-warming family-suitable movie. Some parts made me feel like I'm watching a cartoon haha. Heard many exclaim "So cuuuuuute!" when the alien dog first appeared. Not as much action and comedic scenes as Stephen Chow's previous movies. Oh ya, the 'boy's' acting is really good!

Ah Long Pte Ltd: Kept me laughing every few minutes or so. Not as bad as the reviews described, I guess the reviewers are really biased against Jack Neo. Mark Lee indeed outshined Fann in this show with his sissy gestures and Malaysian accent.

Kungfu Dunk: Full of action scenes. The best would be the fight in the wine restaurant. IMO the throwing and dunk scenes were a bit too repetitive, and Jay never misses. Jay is still acting like himself haha, being quiet and having the stoned expression.

In order of liking, I would put:

1st) Ah Long Pte Ltd

2nd) CJ7

3rd) Kungfu Dunk


The mahjong session on Chu Er was fun! I wonder how much I could have won haha. Lets play with money next time!

To usher the coming of the new year, I changed my blog template. Yeah I know it looks childish, girlish or whatever. But to me the flying turtle is not only cute but meaningful. It describes my current feelings very well. I feel like a turtle still crawling slowly towards my destination whereas the rest of my peers have taken off. How I wish I could just fly...

- Added a song playbar.
Sometimes it doesn't load, sometimes it does. See luck lol. Anyway it doesn't autostart (courtesy for those who are already playing songs in the com). Have to click on the play button to listen to the song. Will change the song occasionally.

- Added some friends' blog links. (And removed some too)

Din make any resolutions last year as my entire 2007 is spent in NS, haha. So this time I would probably make some hehe:

- Exercise more.
Yeah I really need to exercise. Unit too slack alr, weekly battalion runs were often cancelled. Planning to jog at least once a week in the nearby park. Most imptly I'm getting fat...

- Revise for upcoming university.
Forgot almost everything alr...

- Buy new stuff.
Esp clothes! Haven't been shopping for new clothes for very long time le. I even got a 时尚顾问 alr haha. A new HP or bag will be good too.

- Improve on my Japanese.
How could I abandon my interest? I think my Japanese have improved a lot since last year. Will be trying JLPT 2 next year, motto gambarimasu!

- Play more computer games (if got time)
With so many consoles in my disposal it's a waste not to play. There are games I bought 2 years ago still untouched. I still want to keep in touch with the latest video/computer games trend.

- Grow more hair.
Okay this is something I can't really control. For those who haven't realised, I'm losing hair prematurely (taking my father's and brother's footsteps). If this carries on I might go bald in a few years time, haiz. Currently on medication.

I can finally see my ORD date on the new calendar. Those who said that one year earlier, dun suan me. =(

Welcome 2008!

Birthday Treat

Finally 4 of us were able to get together, for one entire day. Outing is really hard to organise esp when all of us were serving NS. Now all ORD-ed except me, haiz.

Went Minds Cafe for the first time. Was lucky to get the last sofa seats. Thanks to YF for introducing some games to us. IMO the pirates strategy game was quite enjoyable, followed by Blokus. (can see the cover of the game from YF's blog) Time did not seem to be enough, and couldn't find those games recommended by others. If we were to go again next time, better do some research first haha.

Then went to watch The Golden Compass. This movie seems like Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Lord of the Rings combined haha. Found the front part a bit boring. Talking too much abt things I dun really understand. Not a very satisfying experience for me...

After the movie we proceeded with ZH anf JH birthday treat. So convenient for their birthdays to fall so close together haha. Really looking forward to the trip in January!

A 'Be-earlied' Treat!

First of all thanks very much to YF for organising the treat! Haven't eaten such great dim sum for a long time. I dun usually get full easily eating those kind of small stuff , wished I could order more haha :p Too bad the last order came too quickly. Was down with a bit of flu, so could not enjoy the food 100%.

Once again we went to test out our skills in Photohunt. Not bad lah, with ZH around this time. Could have scored more for the last game...haiz. The memory game had the most potential score, since we had extra ppl to memorise compared to last time, but it seemed we always spot the same pairs haha. Next time when got 4 ppl lets go play again !

Any blockbuster coming soon? Dun have the urge to watch any movies recently leh.

Next time can organise some outdoor activities? A bit tired of strolling at the same shopping centres every time...

I recommend watching Metamorphosis (Po Jian Er Chu), nice action show! Poor Wanrou.

Mooncake Festival

Ate quite a few of the flat fish-patterned mooncakes provided by the cookhouse today. IMO it tastes better than the traditional ones. Looking forward to eating some snow-skin ones...

Glad to see there are still so many kids playing with candles and sparkles in the playground, but nobody seems to care abt carrying laterns anymore haha.

Anyone received any letter from NLB? They sent me a letter stating overdue fines incurred as far back as year 2000! -______- The worst is I've never seen those titles before! Or maybe I've forgotten that I borrowed those books totally...

A hectic Friday night...

Yesterday night was the most tiring but enjoyable outing I've ever had! Haha. So sry for booking the movie at an early slot, but then we also din expect the fireworks to start so late too...haiz.

Reached City Hall at almost 7+ and it was damn crowded. From MRT station to Citylink all the way to Marina Square. Could see queues at every restaurant and food outlet. Wanted to try a new restaurant but ended up at the same one at Millenia Walk. (the one where outside is the carpark) IIRC it was the third time I've been there alr. The good thing is the row of restaurants there usually do not have much customers. And the BAB restaurant is one of the cheapest restaurant there I think haha. Next time can go Suntec Fountain restaurants instead? It's a long time since I've eaten there...

Had to rush to watch the fireworks below Sheares Bridge as we started (and ended) dinner rather late. But then the fireworks started abt 20 min late. =( Rush to wait, wait to rush eh? It was worth the wait fortunately. The fireworks, brought by Spain, was really spectacular! Magnificient! Splendid! *Throw in any big words here* Was very very impressed with the finale when the entire sky was practically lighted up with a myriad of colours! Though the place we stood wasn't the best location to view the fireworks (din have the tickets to enter the seating gallery), the bright sparkles and loud booms remained impactful. Nothing beats watching the fireworks physically at the scene.

Then we had our ultimate rush to catch a movie. Ran all the way from Sheares to Cathay, weaving through the huge crowd, passing several police, trampling on grass patches, beating traffic lights... Wow, it was like high speed chase! First time I ever ran like that! Haha. Couldn't run with ease carrying my heavy sling bag, and stitches which developed halfway during the run (probably due to improper running posture as well as running quickly and stopping suddenly several times)

Finally we reached Cathay! It was almost 10pm when we entered the theatre, not knowing how much of the movie 'Secret', stipulated to commence at 9.45, we had missed. Took our seats with sweaty shirts. =p

Decided to watch 'Secret' as I heard many good reviews from the net. Practically everyone, both Jay and non Jay fans alike, was praising the movie and claiming that it exceeded their expectations of a cliche love flick film. Many gave 4 stars and above which was indeed very rare for such Asian romance film. Was also looking forward to the twist, which lies the secret of the movie.

Indeed 'Secret' is more impressive that I thought! The 'secret' was rather...beyond imagination haha, though I figured it out partially some time before it was revealed.

Not surprised if anyone decides to watch this movie again. If you look at the internet forums, this movie has triggered many discussions, with ppl presenting their own thoughts and theories. From there you might even come to realisation of facts that you din notice in the movie! Really enjoy this kind of thought-provoking movie, which makes one ponder over the scenes again and again rather than just watch and forget.

Those who haven't watch, go watch it now. You won't regret it.

CNY this year seems to pass rather quickly, even though I had 5 days of break from work. So scary to find myself back in the office much sooner than expected lol. This CNY feels plain bland, or is it just me?

Watched Protege with parents yesterday, the 2nd movie in 4 days. Haha, my parents very enthu hor? Even asked me to book tickets for them, hence I decided to tag along cos I heard the reviews are good. (mostly 4/5) Quite informative with regards to the drug industry, and explains why ppl take drugs =(. Some gruesome scenes which makes me shudder. Personally I feel the bad guys were arrested too easily, with no pursuit in action, in other words the good ending came too abruptly. However the last scene might leave a deep impression on most ppl...

It has been a long long time since I followed a Taiwanese idol drama, the last being Meteor Garden in 2002. No prize on guessing what I'm watching now...Hanazakarino Kimitachihe, or Hana Kimi for short. These 2 dramas share lots of similarities rite, haha. I just like watching school romance dramas ^_^, intro some other good ones to me can?

But really hate Mediacorp cutting scenes from the drama, eg. JJ being kissed by the doctor. Liddat also want to cut. -___-

A Hazy MAF

Went to HC's MAF celebrations yesterday, felt nice to go back to school again and meet up with my fellow classmates, batchmates, CCA-mates, juniors as well as seniors. That was the 2nd MAF I've gone to. Din go last year and I remember my first MAF the prev year was a horrible experience. Glad to have Zhe Han with me this year too. =) Surprised to see Wenjia there, who rushed to school after his test ended at 9. Quite disappointed that I din get to meet and chat with certain ppl I wished to see cos of the crowd.

As usual the climax is the burning of the wires which are bent to form shapes and words...the norm for all MAFs and orientation campfires. Hope to see sth new and more creative next time but I guess it has already become a tradition that must be adhered to. Nevertheless, it's actually quite fun seeing things burn. However we dun like the consequences of burning things, like the haze...

The haze yesterday was quite bad, the worst in the recent years. Peaked at 130 in the morning and 150 at night. A long time since the PSI indicator was shown on TV. It was so bad that not only the visibility of the skyline was greatly lowered (like what is often observed in highlands like Genting), I can feel the smoke around me while walking on the streets (resembling the 'Silent Hill' environment). Can be quite eerie at night. Dun remember that the haze was this bad in 1997 when the PSI was much higher.

Anyway it has become much better this morning, the skies are clear and PSI has dropped to 20+. What a drastic change over a single night!

So ironic to see ppl burn candles/lanterns and play sparkles when the haze was already so terrible, haha.

A yummy birthday

Had a very happy birthday yesterday, as my stomach was extremely satisfied. Watched a movie in the morning, followed by Japanese cuisine for lunch, then an ice-cream treat at Swenson's. At night, my parents bought home a sumptuous birthday dinner, which consisted of lots of food including a KFC combo meal. It was more than satiating as I helped myself freely to the available food. Such a glutton...hehe. There was a birthday cake too, but haven't eaten it till now cos everyone was too full after the mini-buffet. Some of the leftovers spilled over to today's dinner too, haha. The fridge is so congested now, dun think I'll go hungry for the rest of this week. Irresistable, but must refrain from excess intakes at all costs!

Yeah, I'm getting fat. This is not the first time I said that, which means I'm much fatter than before (the jc days). Even the hairdresser auntie says so, haiz... A combined result of a slack vocation and my greediness. Must really take 'healthy lifestyles' and live runs more seriously from now on. My IPPT is coming soon...*cries*, think I'm going to fail badly, haven't been exercising consistently since BMT.

My jeans feel much tighter now...have trouble buttoning up sometimes...zzz...faaat.

CNY Chu Xi

Chu Xi seems especially quiet for me this year without any celebrations. Thanks to Zhenghua Sec for letting the neighbourhood listen to their celebration, and their 'wonderful' singing. =S No teacher to visit this year, or rather I dun think there is a need to visit them anymore...

Reunion dinner is the same every year. No plans to get packed like sardines in Chinatown for last minute shopping. Countdown programme doesn't seem to be very interesting. No tong xiao mahjong to immerse myself in. *Yawn* Com is still the best, but there's no one to chat with on msn, haiz. Feel like sleeping liao.

Maybe I shld study some jap before going to bed. Akai, Aoi, Kiiroi, Shiroi, Kuroi,......

Will try my best to keep my stomach empty for tmr, which means no eating from now on.

K I've decided to sacrifice all my angpow money this year for a dvd recorder.

CNY Chu (fu) Yi

So sad, my driving doesn't seem to be improving much. The instructor still has to tell me to do this and that. And my engine never fails to stall at least once every lesson. I also need to get used to analysing what I see from mirrors. Can see cars and roads but dunno how to react...haha.

I wanna buy a DVD recorder! But it's so ex!!! My old tapes are getting mouldy and unusable alr, I'll lose all their contents if I dun save them soon. >_<

OMG, the Ann Kok stripping scene yesterday has alr spread across the net, in animation gif format. Seems like many ppl are enjoying that scene, but I think Ann is very kelian lor. I heard she had many sleepless night becos of that scene. Anyway if anyone missed yesterday's episode and is curious to see, can ask me to send...>_< I hope no boliao sgeans will write in to the press and complain abt this scene...

Last time Zhang Yaodong stripped nobody seems to save that scene leh...haha.

CNY Chu (fu) San

My first time on the roads today! Good thing is I can travel faster and attempt the 4th gear, bad thing is I can't afford to have any mistakes. The most major mistake I made was stalling at the zebra crossing, when I was abt to move off...cos the gear was not engaged...zzz. Luckily it was not a main road, otherwise I'll get horns from cars behind. The neighbourhood roads I drove on today weren't scary at all, it's the busy roads near the cities that are scary >_<, I wonder if I've the courage to drive on those roads in the future. Speeding up to 4th gear is easy, but changing down when stopping is pretty difficult (for me). And it's the damn clutch (again) that I've problems with.

Watched Memiors of a Geisha...alone. Not bad lah, I din sleep anyway. (or rather I'm not sleepy) I had my eyes fixed on the screen for the whole duration. The story might be draggy at some parts but I find it quite touching. Some parts made me so sad, feel like crying. I appreciate the culture in the movie too =) The only thing that doesn't quite fit is their language...Japanese speaking English, sounds weird =S

Little Chiyo is so cute!!! ^_^

The theatre I went was situated at the 9th floor of Cineleisure, the newly built theatres I suppose. At the entrance was the E-max gaming centre...VERY NICE!!! The place is designed to be very open, no walls between public and the coms/gamers which means anyone can just get to the 9th floor and watch ppl play. There are also 'caged' areas with 10 coms connected, for competitions I guess. The overhead screens (those type that display movie times above the ticketing counter) on that level show on-screen games being played instead of movies. And its payment counter looks like a ticketing counter >_<, so big and so many counters. Initially when I reached that level I was thinking why is there another ticketing counter when there are alr so many ard cine, then I realised it belongs to E-max...

Saw so many familiar faces in Orchard today, girls only, since most guys not on this island alr. >_> Haiz...cmpb sucks.

Also saw a huge crowd gathering in front of Hyatt hotel, they seem to be waiting for some big star to arrive at the hotel... Hmmm, I wonder who's that...aiyah I shld stay and watch hor?

Can't believe I got lost in the underpass. I was heading towards Shaw House but the tunnel never seems to connect to that side of the road...I spent quite some time trying to figure my way but gave up and used a nearby overpass instead (longer way)...zzz, made me almost late for lesson.

First elementary jap lesson was really too 'elementary'. 90% of the stuff taught was what I've already known >_>. Romanji was used throughout the lesson...hiragana plzzzz...otherwise I'll never improve that way.
