Defence of the Chemistry (Final Showdown)

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: I can’t take this humiliation anymore, let’s go!

CaptainPhysical: Go where? Back to Cambridge?

CaptainInorganic: No you idiot! We’re going to take Servbot ourselves!

CaptainPhysical: Whattt? You kidding?

CaptainInorganic: With our powers combined, I’m pretty confident we can defeat Servbot. Besides we are unlike those previous creeps and whelps who are capable of doing nothing except getting themselves killed.

CaptainPhysical: Aren’t we taking a huge risk then? What if we get ourselves killed too?

CaptainInorganic: You’ve been asking me questions ever since I started! Stop it and get moving!

CaptainPhysical: Uh, as you wish sir...

-------

Servbot:

"Without Crestfall, I’ll be dead if Chemistry sends another wave of creeps."

*big red dots appear on the map*

"I see, so the captains are going to face me themselves."

-------

Battlefield:

CaptainInorganic: We are going to defeat you once and for all!

CaptainPhysical: But...isn’t it unfair for 2 against 1?

CaptainInorganic: Who cares, DotC is all about teamwork. If Servbot plans to fight alone then let him be!

"Fine, I accept. I’ve to get rid of you sooner or later."

CaptainInorganic: Good! Let the fight begin!

*suddenly somebody cuts between Servbot and the captains*

CaptainOrganic: Wait, I shall deal with Servbot first...to prove my strength!

CaptainInorganic: Ah ha! You’ve finally appeared. Where have you been all these while?

CaptainPhysical: Haha, more like to prove your weakness?

CaptainOrganic: You shall see. I will defeat Servbot!!! Alcohol Haze!

*Alcohol molecules begin to swirl around Servbot, blinding his sight*

"Hah...that’s easy!"

*Servbot gushes out hot concentrated sulphuric acid in all directions, dehydrating all the alcohol, leaving behind immobile liquid alkenes.*

CaptainOrganic: Hmph...it won’t be easy the next round. Carboxylic Blade!

*Carboxylic acid molecules shoot towards Servbot at high speeds.*

"Carbonate Shield!"

*Servbot conjures a giant brick made of carbonate in front of him, blocking the beam of carboxylic acid*

*Psssssssssssst*

CaptainInorganic: If this continues we might die of carbon dioxide suffocation.

*Psssssssssst*

*Finally the brick crumbles just after all the acid have been neutralized*

CaptainOrganic: No! Ketenenenenenene!

*Ketenes swarm around Servbot, threatening to knock him down with its sharp carbonyl end*

"KMnO4!!!!"

*Servbot blasts the strong oxidizing agent, cleaving all ketene into small molecules*

"Come to think of it, all your compounds are so reactive in one way or another. It’s so easy to counter your attack."

CaptainOrganic: Then I shall release my most inert possession... Tetrachlromethane!

*Splat*

*Servbot wipes off the tetrachloromethane on his face*

CaptainPhysical: ...

CaptainInorganic: Small, non-polar, unreactive, what damage can it do?

CaptainOrganic: Whaaat...

"Are you done yet? Now’s my turn!"

*Servbot takes out a huge toy hammer and whack whack whack*

CaptainOrganic: Benzene Barrier!

*A buckybenzeneball forms around CaptainOrganic, but was quickly smashed in pieces by the hammer*

"The final whack!"

*BAAAASH*

Servbot just pwned CaptainOrganic’s head for an extra 200 gold!

CaptainInorganic: Useless...really useless.

CaptainPhysical: I told you so, Organic is such a weakling, he can’t fight.

CaptainInorganic: Forget about Organic now, it’s time for us to fight. Get your auras ready, Physical!

CaptainPhysical: Yes sir!
Energetic Aura: Increases attack speed
Kinetic Aura: Increases movement speed
Electroaura: Increases attack damage
Equilibaura: Maintains balance between health and mana

"Wow, that’s a lot of powerups! Anyway why is equilibaura so lame?"

CaptainPhysical: What do you mean lame??? With that, as long as our mana pool is large we will never die! Muhahaha!

CaptainInorganic: Actually I kinda agree with Servbot.

CaptainPhysical: Whaaat?

-------

"Storm Hammer!"

*CaptainInorganic gets hit by the hammer and is stunned, Servbot continues to whack*

CaptainPhysical: Bleaching Chlorate!

*Servbot’s hammer becomes soft and blunt*

"How dare you!"

*Servbot takes out an Enpitsu and starts stabbing. CaptainInorganic is no longer stunned.*

CaptainInorganic: Ligands’ Plague!

*H2O, CN-, Cl-, NH3, SCN-, OH- binds onto Servbot like leeches, obstructing his movement and slowing him down, and dealing damage per second*

"Shit, I can’t shake it off"

1800/1800......1700/1800......1600/1800

CaptainPhysical: pH Minus!

*sprays aqueous solution of pH = -10, which corrodes Servbot’s skin at an alarming rate.*

1200/1800

*the ligands disappear and Servbot regains its speed again*

"Servbot’s Hole!"

*A dark mysterious hole appears on the ground below the captains, attempting to suck them beneath the earth.*

CaptainInorganic: Erase Group II!

*All Group II elements temporary disappear from the surroundings*

*The earth beneath the captains becomes soft and eventually crumbles, forming a huge crater and the dark hole disappears*

CaptainPhysical: What the...don’t go around erasing elements like that!

CaptainInorganic: That spell will not affect us. Moreover it saved us, be thankful instead!

CaptainPhysical: Uh ok...anyway it sounds like a cool skill to have.

CaptainInorganic: Actually I can erase carbon and it will render Organic useless...haha.

CaptainPhysical: He’s already useless as he is...haha.

*Servbot hurls his Enpitsu towards the captains who are happily chatting away*

CaptainPhysical: Careful sir!!!

*CaptainPhysical defends CaptainInorganic and gets stabbed through his body. (ouch!)*

CaptainInorganic: Phy...Physical!!!!!

*CaptainPhysical collapses on the ground*

CaptainInorganic: Grrr, Servbot you shall pay! Ammonia Flood!

*Liquid ammonia floods into the crater where Servbot stands, engulfing Servbot while CaptainInorganic brings CaptainPhysical to safety*

"Argh...the smell!!!"

*All Servbot’s stats decrease by half*

600/900

CaptainPhysical: I... am... ok... don’t... worry... we... unleash... the... final... blow... *coughes out blood*

CaptainInorganic: You sure you can perform it?

CaptainPhysical: Yes... finish... it... once... and... for... all... lets... call... upon... the... four forces... of... nature...

CaptainInorganic, Very well then… The 4 Forces of Nature Gather!

CaptainPhysical: Gra... vit... ation... al... Force!

CaptainInorganic: Electromagnetic Force!

CaptainPhysical: Weak... Nu... clear... Force!

CaptainInorganic: Strong Nuclear Force!

CaptainPhysical, CaptainInorganic: UNLEASH THE ION CANNON!!!

*The sky starts to roar, and seconds later, a strong thick blinding white bolt of ions descends from the clouds and strikes the crater at an extremely high speed, ionising everything in its vicinity*

CaptainInorganic: ???

Servbot has been slain by Chemistry. All Chemistry players get 800 gold.

CaptainInorganic: Yes! We did it!!!

CaptainPhysical: Yeah... it... was... worth... it.

CaptainInorganic: I will bring you back to camp quickly.

CaptainPhysical: Wait... Organic......

CaptainInorganic: Yes, I’ll bring him back too…come on, let’s go!

*Uses Teleport Scroll*

Not the end yet

Was lying on my bed just now when I suddenly plunged into a dream (or probably it's just simply thoughts). I was looking out at a blank window, thinking that everything has come to an end. No more school, no more studying, no more exams, and most importantly I wun get to see my classmates again. A few faces started to pop out, and most likely I wun see them ever again. Quite bleak.

Ok, then i woke up...>_> At least this 'dream' is not those ridiculous unlogical type and it speaks true of my mind. The only difference is, during the dream I felt that everything is going to be lost and I did not want my school life to end, whereas after I woke up that sense of loss just dissipated. Why be so sad? I've (almost) completed the A lvls and I shld be happy abt it. Furthermore not being to meet some ppl ever again is so common along our path in life. Whenever we step onto another stage of education (ie from sec sch to jc), we will surely lose touch of many ppl. Going to school for so many years, we've met and left several ppl along the way. Unless we're really close to a person, we shld become immune to such separation by now, no reason to be reluctant to let go of our current social circle. A few months from now, we're going to form a new circle and everything will start anew with a fresh experience. Isn't that what we've been doing for the last 10 or so years of our lives?

It's time to finally pack up my stuff and draw down the curtain. Since like dunno when I've sleeping beside a messy table full of books and paper. Shall fold up the table soon and keep it in the storeroom. (oh wait, my house doesn't have a storeroom...hehe) It's like closing down a stall liddat...haha. As for my study cupboard, I wun empty it for now unless I find something more important to replace the contents, which wun be the case for the next 2 years. I'm not the sort who burns tys and throws aways notes and tutorials after the exam ends...haha.

I'm going to wear the hc uniform for the last time this friday. Dunno what to do with it after that. My tchs uniform has disappeared, dunno if it's thrown away or sold to garang guni liao.

Looking forward to the final class gathering! Make sure everyone in the class attends!!! (esp wenjia...i've never seen you attend any outings before)

The End?

Haven't been online for almost 48 hrs liao, many things have changed, esp from those who have just completed their A lvls. This shows I'm so dependent on my com, half of my life is from it mah...hehe.

Anyway when the invigilator was giving out the writing materials this morning, I suddenly had the feeling that I was taking 2 3hr maths papers consecutively. Felt a sense of tireness and fatigue.

After the FM paper yesterday, 7 of us went to Orchard. Kaizhi and Mong went to pool while Saykai, Jieying, Thazin, Youcheng and I wanted to catch Harry Potter (not literally). It was a terrible period to get seats in Cine. (why must the paper be in the afternoon???) Almost every seat was booked, except the you-know-seats. Discussed for a long time before deciding to go Lido instead and fortunately we were able to find seats there. The movie would start rather late, so we went into a time-killing spree by filling up our stomaches and looking ard for eye-pleasures.

HP is not bad, kinda rushed though. Even with all the rush, the length of movie is still so long. Sometimes I wish I haven't read the book so I wun try to expect what is going to happen next (and probably be disappointed). But if I dun read, I might not understand the story, leaving me bewildered like the last 3 movies. Nevertheless I liked the movie! ^_^ Hmm, I noticed Dumbledore appears to act so rashly...>_>

The movie ended past 11pm, for the 4 of them it was ok but for me...hehe. Anyway whether I study or not it will still yield the same result. The paper today proved me right. S paper ah...so unpredictable, anything can come out, how to study???

Might get merit or below, but at least my result slip got more lines to see. I admit I'm not a material for s papers or olympiads. There's sth lacking in my brain to tackle such problems.

Compared to math s, FM was ok.

CPU fever

Now I know why my com blacks out and shuts down so often these days. Those who understand coms well shld have already known that my cpu is probably overheated. Unlike fever, I can't just wait for the heat in my cpu to die down. Have to do sth to solve this problem...haiz. Com idiots like me definitely dread this kind of stuff happening.

Downloaded a program to check the cpu temp and fan speed. It gave a whooping 90 degrees in one of the readings! Wah, it's like soooo overheated, almost to the boiling point of water liao. However I suspect the reading might be wrong. Firstly, my cpu cannot be that hot right? Secondly I was able to touch my cpu without scalding myself. Thirdly if such temps are reached the com would have already shut down itself. Ok, with so many reasons I can conclude that there is sufficient evidence to show the reading is wrong at 0% lvl of significance.

However that does not mean my cpu is not overheated...it surely is.

Hmm, my cpu only has 1 fan, the one directly below the psu (is that wat you call it?). Is that normal? Ok, I think my cpu really needs more fans now.

*folds paper fans and throw them into the cpu case*

Huh? Cannot ah? Ok...

*puts a table fan in front of the cpu*

Huh, still cannot? Ok...

*goes to Fannatic Fan Club*

...

Unless I get this problem fixed, I can't play any computer games now. That means no dota for me...sobz.

Defence of the Chemistry (3rd Strike)

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: How do you suggest we deal with Servbot? All our past attempts have failed...

CaptainPhysical: I think we shld use numbers to overwhelm him, we will surely die if we try to face him one on one. Hmm, I've an idea. We shall creepblock and accumulate up to 40 creeps. 30 melee creeps specialising in Direct Attack and 10 ranged creeps specialising in Deduction Attack. That shld take exactly 10 waves, we must hold out until then.

CaptainInorganic: Fine, we shall adopt your strategy then. Get your wards ready!

CaptainPhysical: Hold on, I think we shld enhance the creeps' fighting abilities further by applying auras on them.

CaptainInorganic: Good idea! What auras do you suggest?

CaptainPhysical: The Energetic Aura, which improves the attack speed of creeps, the Kinetic Aura, which increases movement speed, the Electroaura which increases attack damage as well as the Equilibaura which regulates the balance between the creeps’ life and mana. Leave everything to me!

CaptainInorganic: Wait, I dun understand. Why do creeps need mana? For Servbot to absorb?

CaptainPhysical: ...

------

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: How is it going? Are we ready to attack?

CaptainPhysical: Sry for the delay. We’re still gathering creeps. Howver it seems like one of the melee creeps generated is defective. We’ll replace it as soon as possible.

CaptainInorganic: Hurry up pls. We’re almost behind time.

CaptainPhysical: My apologies. Anyway I’ve tagged each of these creeps a yellow scarf so we can recognize them from the others.

CaptainInorganic: Good job. Anyone who sees the yellow scarf will fear Chemistry!

-------

Servbot:

*senses a large crowd coming his way*

"shucks, no more bombs left"

"Crestfall! I need your help!!!"

-------

Dalaran Ice Temple:

Rylai: What the hell… did someone call me or sth?

-------

Chemistry:

CaptainPhysical: Releaso!!!!

*removes ward...the creeps start marching towards Servbot*

CaptainInorganic: Hey dun block the way.

CaptainPhysical: Err...then where do I stand? I need to provide the creeps with my aura.

-------

Secret Shop:

CaptainOrganic: I dun get it, why am I always behind the other two captains... Errpp... One more hyperstone pls!!!

Leragas: Sigh. You had too much already...one more and you’ll be hyperdrunk.

CaptainOrganic: Argh...I dun care! Dun you dare stain my wool coat too. Just gimme that hyperstone. I’ve tons of gold!

Leragas: ...

-------

Servbot:

o_0 "they are coming..."

"hmm, who’s the first in line...huh atomic mass?" =S

"Hmm, some creeps look extremely familiar, it’s like I’ve defeated them before."

CaptainPhysical: Attack!!! Aim for Servbot!!!

*the creeps start to surround Servbot*

*Bish Bish Bam Bam…*

"argh...I lack aoe spells!"

*1200/1500*

*1000/1500*

*700/1500*

*500/1500*

*200/1500*

"arghhh…shit, I’m stuck...can’t move"

Suddenly the sky turns blue. (hasn’t it always been blue?)

Rylai: HERE I COME! Behold my Blizzard Storm!

*novas and blizzards erupt and splash over the whole "screen", annihilating almost all the creeps*

"Wah so powderful!!!"

Rylai: Of course, I just had an aghanim. Ultimate anti-creepblock!

"Eh, I tot it was Freezing Field. When did it become Blizzard Storm?"

Rylai: Heh heh, freezing field doesn’t sound great enough. I want to add a blizzard element too. Anyway my work’s done here. GTG!

"Bye Bye!"

"Sigh, din manage to completely own this time. Apparently some creeps got away."

-------

Chemistry:

CaptainInorganic: Argh! I’m sooo angry! I’m fuming!!!

CaptainPhysical: Yea, yea, I can smell the HCl gas from miles away.

CaptainInorganic: Where were you? What were you doing when the creeps were wiped out?

CaptainPhysical: Well you see, I’m rather susceptible to temperature changes you know, and...

CaptainInorganic: KKK...I get what you mean. Where’s Organic? Haven’t seen him lately.

CaptainPhysical: Uh...ran away hiding probably. Forget it, he’s useless. He can’t fight. All he does is playing around with his functional groups, everyone knows his tactics.

CaptainInorganic: ...

CaptainPhysical: Sir...you alright?

CaptainInorganic: Is...there...nothing...we...can...do...to...stop...Servbot...

Seeing Stars

Now I understand the plight of those ppl who had to take 2 papers on the same day in the morning and afternoon. Just before the chem paper I was seeing stars, like the feeling when you just walked out of a movie theatre. Luckily it did not affect my concentration much, still able to think as well, but slower. Moreover it's only a 1 hr mcq paper. Imagine those who took physics and econs on wed! They might have suffered but now they can enjoy liao. Sure enough, I heard some girls screaming like no one's business after the chem paper. Some classes went out together after that, I envy them. Cos my class doesn't seem to have organised any class outings and such. Just eagerly waiting to say bye bye to A lvls and the school. Sigh...

Did they run out of bleaching agents or sth? How come the qn paper is yellow...a bit not used to it. Only a few unsure qns, shld have no careless mistakes I hope. I did a qn using the wrong method and yet able to get the correct answer (what luck!). Ya, I've come to a conclusion too: Cambridge is indeed lazy. Sooo many reused qns, like phy. Once again, yay for those who practise on their tys regularly.

How many freaking times have we taken an FM paper with graphic calculators? Why do ppl still say they dunno how to reset the calculator??? Say so loud somemore (instead of seeking help from neighbours quietly). Dun they feel any sense of shame? And pls lah, dun expect the invigilator to know how to operate the calculator ok? It's this kind of idiocy that makes me so annoyed.

The good thing abt FM exam is that the topics tested in each paper are completely different. Easy to study. Whoever tries to send a spot-topic msg for FM shld be shot not once, but 1 million times man!

The weather is acting rather weirdly at my place. When I was in the LRT it started to rain heavily. When I walked out of the station it stopped. When I reached my doorstep it rained again -___-. The moral of this story is: I din get caught in the rain.

I want to watch Harry Potter!!! By hook or by crook!!! *throws tantrums*

WCG 2005

Hmm, it's quite rare for such a international gaming competition to be held in Singapore. Anyway I also dunno why the authorities want sg to host the finals, since the gaming population in sg is rather small. Mostly youngsters below age 20 only. The strict laws in sg seem to discourage gaming. And the media too, do not usually give any coverage on the gaming world. How often will you see programmes and reports abt games? Game advertisements are non-existent. The sg government might be trying to open up, esp with the recent launch of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) Singapore version, but still it gives me the impression that gaming is not very welcomed in sg.

From 16 to 20 Nov, there will be 1 hr telecast of the competition daily on ch U (2 slots of 1/2 hr each). Not much to see actually, I would rather go Suntec myself. Many goodies and fun stuff there I heard. However during this period I doubt anyone would want to go there with me...

Out of all the competition games, I only know how to play warcraft...haha. Probably can watch counter strike too. Why no console games :(

Exam Do's & Dun's

No, I’m not going to talk abt pre-exam stress and its related symptoms. Actually I’m rather surprised that most tips and guides for students abt handling exams only focus on what to do before the exams, how to cope with the stress effectively and so on. They usually say stuff like sleep well, relax, close your eyes, etc, which I think most ppl must have already heard umpteen times. But they fail to deal with the practical difficulties that a student might face in the exams itself. Perhaps those who write the pre-exam tips are mainly teachers and parents, who probably have never taken an exam for a long time, thus they only know methods like sleep well, drink water, go toilet and all the gibri gabra. A clear mind before an exam is as important as one during an exam. Some might suggest taking a break during a paper, closing our eyes for a while and relax, then resume with the paper. This is no good. When you relax, you brain becomes inactive and by the time you get back to the qns, your mind might be blank and unable to think as well. Also, you will lose the momentum and slow down. It’s like walking/stopping in the middle of running 2.4km. Ensure your brain is always active so that you can think faster, write faster and be more time-efficient. I’ve made a list of some specific in-exam difficulties, some dos and duns, which could arise in some way. They might sound trivial but they can really slow you down if you spend too much time thinking of how to avoid or overcome such problems.

1) Nature’s Call:
Pls, pls, pls, if your bladder is more than half full (or half empty if you call it) before the exam, go and empty it before the paper commences, esp if the paper is going to be 2hrs or more. You wun know when your bladder suddenly fills to the brim. Leaving for the toilet halfway during the paper is not only time-consuming, but also makes you lose momentum when you return. Some major exams require you to surrender IC, or ask the invigilator or somebody else (non-candidate of same gender) to accompany you to the toilet. You will want to avoid all these hassle.

2) The Sound of Music:
Some people think they are adding music to the exam silence by clicking their pens repeatedly, tapping beats and rhythms on the table, slapping their rulers and making whatever combination of sound you can possibly make on the stationery. These are neither music nor sound, just pure plain irritating noise which will tick your tocks, I mean thoughts, away. If someone near you is making such noises, stamp your foot (but not so loud) and hope that the person will realize it and shut up accordingly. Such ‘music’ isn’t appreciated at all.

3) Blow Wind Blow:
Whish, whoosh! Your light gentle script is being blown to the ground, probably to a place you can’t reach it. What shld you do? The only thing I can say is, you’re out of luck. Blame yourself for leaving your scripts without a paper weight if you know there’s going to be wind blowing from the fan or outside. Two possibilities. Firstly, let’s hope a kind soul will help you pick it up and return it to you. However a kind soul is no more if he or she gets accused of cheating. Secondly, call or wait (the former is better, less time wasted) for the invigilator to pick the script up for you. This is bad for your concentration if you really have to do this. Prevention is better than cure.

4) Beyond the Line:
Applies for cases where you have to write your answers on the qn paper itself. Hmm, either you’ve made a major mistake or have too much to write. The lines provided aren’t enough. That’s worse if you aren’t supposed to use correction fluid (affectionally known as liquid paper). Remember what your teachers say abt answers beyond the line will not be accepted by examiners. The lines are there for a reason, writing beyond them just shows that you’re not being precise. (if the expected answer is too much for the lines provided, then setter is being unreasonable) But on your part, think before you write!

5) Excess Denied:
Dun bombard the marker with an essay intended for a 2-mark qn. If you’re the marker, you wun be pleased too. Make up your mind in what to write. It’s like buying lots of combinations in a lottery hoping that some will strike. Dunno what the examiner expects? Write more! Dunno what will appear in the answer scheme? Write somemore! Eventually your answer will amount to an essay. Time is deprived too. Bad.

6) Destruct and Destroy:
Cancelling a long bunch of workings which you took pains to produce, or even crushing the entire paper, can lower your morale and confidence . Not forgetting to mention the time lost too. The old saying goes, look before you leap. And pls cancel nicely.

7) Please Turn Over:
Especially for maths papers, careful not to let your answers to the same question overflow to the other side of the page or another piece of paper. Firstly you’re making it tough for the marker and secondly it’s harder for you to refer to answers in the prev parts. Thirdly, some markers are blur enough not to notice your workings on the next page. They think end of page = end of answers. Hence the loss of marks. Beware!

8) Absolute Zero:
I’ve mentioned this before in my earlier entries. Never leave blanks, write at least something, you’ll never know if you can grab a lucky mark for that. Blanks will confirm grant you no marks at all. On the other hand, crap can give you hope. It might even come in handy when pleading for additional marks to push grade. Argue your way through! Haha.

9) Numb Number:
Particularly for physics. Dunno what form to leave your numerical answers in? 3 sf, 2 sf, 2 dp, standard index or the very-exact calculator value? The latter is usually not recommended, unless it’s used as an intermediate value in the immediate step. (that’s what the ‘Ans’ function is for). Most of the time, leaving final answers in 3sf is the safest. Standard index is good for relatively large and small values. Count your digits carefully. Always work with SI units to be safe, since physical constants are all in SI units. (I’m sure you all know the reason why temperature cannot be in degree Celsius in the gas equation right?) For maths, leave in exact form or fraction if possible, unless specified.

10) Blurger King:
This case is rare but does happen. Some can miss out parts of a question or even an entire question because they think there are no more questions left. Usually occurs at the last page of the paper. This is deadly cos you can lose tons of marks from those blanks. Dun feel silly for flipping over to a blank page, it’s better safe than sorry. If you feel that there is an excess of time for a paper, you probably miss out something.

11) Skippy Peanut Butter:
Skipping questions that we dunno how to do is a technique that we’ve probably learnt as early as Primary 1. It does carry some risks too. We may not have time to get back to the skipped qn after all. Or we may not know how to do the qn even after returning to it later. Or we may take a longer time to figure out becos we forgot what the qn is abt. No matter what you do, be sure to prevent Absolute Zero.

12) A Message from the Tree:
Requiring a fresh piece of paper merely for one or two lines is some kind of wastage.

Ya, I know this entry shld have come earlier. >_< Anyway hope you’ll find this helpful. Any suggestions of what to add onto this list?

End of College Awards (Part 2)

Best Lecture Notes: (not in order)

-Root and Polynomials (FM) by Mr Koh YH (the humour employed in the notes is exhilarating!)

-Hydroxy/Carbonyl Compounds (Chem) by Mr Sam Lee (neat, organized and concise)

-NMR Spectroscopy (Chem) by Mr Teo ME (very detailed…in fact it’s over-detailed)

-Analogue Electronics (Phy) by ???, assuming it’s by Mr Ronnie Quek (looks very clean and fresh)

-Hypothesis Testing One/Two Populations (FM) by Mrs Jasmine Yap (they are really nice to read! Got comics somemore)

-Complex Number lecture series (MA/FM) by Mr Koh YH (I can say that Mr Koh produces the best lecture notes in the maths dept)

Worst Lecture Notes: (not in order)

-Moment of Inertia (FM) by Mr Tan YM (Words and diagrams so small, no place to copy examples somemore)

-States of Matter (Chem) by Mdm Ching MY (almost everyone shld agree with me...nuff said)

-Arenes (Chem) by Mrs Ho LY (clearly no effort was put into making this set of notes)

-Oscillations (Phy) by Mr Lee LJ (very unorganized, dunno what to copy where)

-Applications of Differentiation (MA) by ??? (Diagrams, explanations and examples all mashed together. There are copied as well as printed example solutions...I’m so confused)

Most read lecture notes:

Maths Section A: Integration (esp its applications part)

Maths Section B: Vectors (this topic is so forgettable)

Chem: Chemical Periodicity & Group VII (always cant memorise those reactions)

Phy: Physics of Fluids (so much stuff to memorise)

GP: Forget it

Least read lecture notes:

Maths Section A: Standard Graphs, Functions and Linear Transformations (esp the
very ‘extra’ proving techniques at the front)

Maths Section B: Mathematical Induction (is there really a need to read this?)

Chem: States of Matter (just what we already learnt in O lvls + some new stuff which is easy to handle…furthermore it’s one of the worst lecture notes -__-)

Phy: Errors and Uncertainties (there are more worthy notes to read than this)

GP: Everything

Zzzzz...I suck at describing experiments.

FM:Describe how the exact value of 'pi' is determined. Name apparatus. Show theory pls.

Another message

Hey here are e predicted topics from pang-Chem bonding, electro chem, equilibria, kinetics, periodicity, trans elements, organic type of rxn... pass e word ard :)

Now I see the relation: the prev msg was from Mrs Pang, this one is from Mr Pang. Are they husband and wife or wat? Both like to spot topics also. Anyway is Mr Pang married in the first place?

I dun wish to repeat myself. Anyway I feel all these unnecessary spotting of topics are not very reliable. What if some other topics come out? Roll over and die issit? We can't really tell what is going to appear in the A lvl papers, I doubt the teachers can too, although they are supposed to have more experience than us. Also, looking at the topics mentioned above, dun they cover almost everything in the core syllabus? -__- Moreover I dun think anyone will have so short a memory such as to forget what they studied last week.

Probably I will receive another msg tmr. Maybe I shld start the ball rolling. Here is what I plan to write:

Hey study these for phy by Jun Pang - units, uncertainty, kinematics, dynamics, circular, gravitation, thermo, electrostatics, electricity, circuits, alt current, capacitance, analogue, waves, shm, magnetism, quantum, nuclear & fluids. Yupz study hard & good luck! :)

End of College Awards (Part 1)

Anything that I've experienced in my two years of college life is eligible for this award!

Top 10 Tutors:

10th) Miss Deborah Wee – A J3 relief teacher last year for chem. Din like her at first becos of her teaching style, then began to realize she’s actually quite friendly and amiable. Aka the pms/act-xiong-buay-xiong, act-cool-buay-cool teacher.

9th) Mr Tan YM – He just teaches, teaches and teaches. I only thing I can remember is him orbiting ard the classroom like a satellite as well as the big ‘HUH’ he gave when I told him I din do my tutorial. -___-

8th) Miss Cindy Chong – Another J3 relief teacher last year for phy. She teaches very well, better than most phy teachers. (Shame on you, phy dept!) She appeared in the papers before.

7th) Mdm Yeo LH – Our ‘beloved’ J1 CT. The presence of Wong makes her seem like an angel. However, she emits tons of sleeping gas during her lectures and tutorials, even more than my sec 4 phy teacher. Get ready Esuna!

6th) Mr Lee LJ – He is shy, his jokes are cold, he stammers a lot, likes to blow air into mike, likes to say ‘I’ll go faster’ and then slows down. But once again, the presence of Wong makes him seem like an angel.

5th) Mr Alex Tan – Our PE teacher for 2 years. Not exactly a tutor but it’s fair to include him in this award. If not for him, I wun be able to pass my napfa. A nice and friendly teacher too. ^_^

4th) Mrs Lee CK – I think she’s the only teacher who bothers to send sms to every of her students before the exams. Bothers to give so many extra lessons too >_>. Very caring but somehow I dun feel very close to her. I shall not comment abt her English.

3rd) Mr Koh YH – The subtle similarly between he and I...haha! *scratches head*

2nd) Mr Sam Lee – The teacher who seeks to know more abt his students. Teaching is clear and concise. Lectures are interesting too. A gamer like me...hehe. Well known for his sadistic gummibear video.

1st) Mrs Jasmine Yap – Ah, the young and pretty teacher! Friendly, Understanding, Considerate and...*ahem* Nice. Undeniably the best tutor in my 2 years of college life. The feeling of closeness is there, very approachable.
Ok, she is Kind.

Top 5 Non-Tutors/Lecturers

5th) This slot will be left empty cos after much consideration there is no lecturers worthy of this position.

4th) Mr Pang PC – The leng mian xiao jiang. He cracks a joke with a straight face and everybody laughs except him. >_< The way he lectures is superb, if only he is not the discipline master...

3rd) Ms Kwee TC – Wahahaha...she’s a natural joker! Unlike her Section A counterpart she emits lots of laughing gas. Get ready a pillow!

2nd) Mr Andrew Yap – The card magician! Too bad he *poofed* after lecturing us only a few times early this year. His stories are interesting too, unlike the other you-know-who maths lecturer who has nth better to say.

1st) Mr Ronnie Quek – Wah, what a surprise! A phy teacher somemore! Everytime he lectures I would definitely learn something new from him, unlike others who like to repeatedly emphasize on simple stuff we already know. I love his humour too. ^_^

Worst Teachers:

Physics Paper 1 is not bad, in fact I think it's easy. This is the first physics mcq paper which I had more than 20 min leftover time to check my answers. Checked all my answers thoroughly, shld have no mistakes. Just as I tot the phy dept is lazy in setting their own qns, Cambridge is even lazier. Sooo many reused qns, I can shade the answers immediately just by glancing at those qns. Hurray for those who had practised on the tys! (for those who din, sry to say that you've lost out in one way or another)

Let's shoot ppl who signed their OMS with ink. After so many years of shading they still dun learn that everything on the OMS must be written in pencil...aiyoh.

Ok, most ppl will agree that paper 2 is crap. I think so too. The calculations are ok (glad that cambridge is sensible to let us show an answer) but the qualitative parts are ... unorthodox. (a nice word there) Dunno how many countless times we're required to draw on that pencil-unfriendly graph with extremely thick and dark grid lines. This has happened before in O lvl phy prac 2003 (if any of you remember it). I really hate drawing on cambridge graphs, they make my graphs look almost invisible, even after I try to thicken my graph further. All the interpolations are practically impossible to see, hope the markers wun be so particular abt that.

Just a reminder. Dun leave any blanks, you're just stabbing yourself. Write crap if possible. I'm sure most of you already know this right?

Tabletime

I noticed that I seldom use a table to study. Most of the time I put books and notes on my lap and lie/sit on my bed to read. Not healthy I know, but quite comfortable! Hehe...

Time to plan what I'm going to do after A lvls! A bit inappropriate but while studying I can't help thinking about how I'm going to enjoy myself after the exams. Basically there are two things I can do: (i)stay at home, (ii)go out with friends. No lah, not planning to find a part time job. Firstly I'm lazy and secondly I'm not prepared to work at all, esp in the service sector. (ya, the irony...even though my nick is servbot, I dun like to serve ppl) Appalled by stories abt how ppl working in service sectors get bullied by unreasonable customers. As for jobs like clerk, nah! Too boring and I can't type well too. Ok, I'm fussy.

Staying at home for me is not as boring as what most of you will imagine, cos I think my home is virtually an arcade cum cybercentre. Much thanks to my bro who buys video/comp games at a rate comparable to that of girls buying clothes. Right after A lvls I will immediately throw myself into a gaming spree!

Hmm, as for going out with friends...will decide next time.

Without my enlistement date confirmed, I'm really clueless of how to plan my time effectively. I need to be mentally and physically prepared you know...

I wonder if there is a need to memorise the values in the electromagnetic spectrum...

This is a dummy entry, just feel like writing something. Refining the End of College Awards.

Timetable

Went to MOE website to take a look at the exam timetable, some interesting discoveries made:

Orhhh (my pisai), now I know why maths paper 1 is placed in the afternoon. Becos the bio students had their paper 2 in the morning! But why isn’t the maths paper in the morning while bio paper in the afternoon instead? Maths paper shld have priority for the morning slot rite?

Wah! I suspect there is a crazy freak in the world taking both biology and further maths at the same time cos their time slots never coincide at all. I bet it’s Hermione.

I think the timetable setter is bio-biased. Whenever bio takes the morning slot, everything gets pushed to the afternoon -__-

Hmm, I found a subject called Divinity. Erm, is that really what I think it is? The look-into-crystal-ball-and-talk-crap-thingy. So many Hogwarts students hate that subject I can’t believe it actually exists in real life...>_< Divinity looks quite slack to me leh, just say someone is going to die on someday can already rite?

PCME students are gonna have a difficult time next week, esp wed with physics P3 in the morning and econs P1&2 in the afternoon! I think econs students quite poor thing, cos their papers can virtually combine with any other paper on the same day. Moreover it usually gets pushed to the afternoon. But the good thing is, after wed they can slack liao!!!!! Only one 1hr chem mcq paper left on fri! Though they can’t completely slack, I guess most of them would be already in the half-celebrative mood after wed. Probably wed will see the first batch of students making their way to Orchard.

Then, a even larger second batch will arrive on Fri afternoon.

In the following Mon, it would then be some impatient bio students who are also in half-celebrative mood cos only paper 1 left on thurs. Paper 1s are such spoilsports! We shld do away with them.

Fourth would be FM students later in the afternoon. But their numbers are so negligible that I doubt anyone would care.

The last would be some (cant decide if it’s minority or majority) bio students on thurs.

Too bad for S paper paper students, most have to stay till the end of the week. Chem and phy s on the same day. I pity those who take this combi.

For those minority bio s or econs s students, good luck man, you’ll have to suffer another weekend. These ppl will be the last few leaving for the ‘Island’.

The very last ones would be eng lit s and arts and design students, but nvm I dun care abt them.

End of Timetable...woot!

End of College Awards coming soon!!! Watch this space!

Papertalk

*Yawn*

The 3 hour duration of maths paper is the only time I can sit there for 45min or even 1hr yawning myself away.

I think my body clock is still not back to normal. Yesterday night (and the prev night) I kept tossing and turning in bed, even though it's already past 2am. Effectively only got 3 hours of sleep. *yawn* So I end up very tired in the afternoon, unable to resist the urge to take a nap, after which I can't sleep at night...what a viscous cycle!...*yawn*

So viscous that it can't obey equation of continuity.

Maths Paper 2: Nothing worthy of discussion. What a boring paper...yawn.

*Laughs at Mrs Pang* Haha, you failed to spot rates of change...haha. Anyway why did Cambridge omit so many topics...>_>

Probably they included too much O lvl A Maths rejected qns.

What's up with the graph paper provided...-_____- Isn't single-lined paper sufficient to sketch a graph on? Dun need to be so accurate ba. When someone writes his/her name on the graph paper, it becomes a wastage lor. Anyway who with common sense will write their name on the graph paper...o_0

Those who wrote their name on the graph paper today (after knowing its uselessness on tues) ought to be shot.

Yeah, I've taken the liking to shot people already. Blame Cambridge.

My next target would be ppl who write their name on each and every sheet of paper they are given. Even when given 100 sheets of paper, they will insist on writing in every sheet. -.- Ok, I shall be kind enough not to shoot them but I'm just wondering if there is really so much workings to write. Teachers can even squeeze the entire answer key (with workings) into one piece of paper lor. For both maths paper I used 4 sheets of paper each and I think it's more than enough already. Can reduce to 3 paper somemore if not for the huge gap I left when I went from Section A to D.

Wanna know my mi jue? Inequalities, 3 lines gao dim liao, 5 marks. 1st line, manipulation. 2nd line, number line. 3rd line, final statement.

short and sweet :P

Many ppl commented that I squeezed too much but I'm trying hard to be generous with space already, esp in the A lvls. I enlarged my handwriting, drew the largest graph I've ever sketched...but seems like I still used too few paper. >_< Maybe I was a tree in my past life...

Maybe I'm really overdoing it...look at this piece of paper for my rough working:

My my, how ruthless I am!

Some lame meessage

By TJC HOD maths, mrs Pang. Revise these for pp 2. Maclrn, ap gp, complex no, gen soln, vol of revoln, sigma, binomial, approx roots N STATS! Pass word around

I dunno how many of you received this sms, but I think it's quite stupid. Firstly, by common sense, we should know that those topics not tested in paper 1 would probably be tested in paper 2. These topics are what everyone can deduce, so what is the point of spreading this msg which contain info that most ppl already know of? Btw isn't this msg only meant for TJ students? How come it can spread to HC?

Secondly, the msg says it is by TJC Maths HOD. Trying to claim credit or wat? Dunno whether this msg was really sent by her initially or some TJC students trying to play a fool. Also, it's useless trying to claim credit for something everyone knows. I can also put my name down wat, after all I deduced these topics myself too. "By Jun Rong, study these blah blah blah, pass it ard." -__-

Thirdly, is there really a need to spot topics for Maths? It's not as if each maths topic requires a lot of time and effort to study such that you have to select only some of them. I understand why subjects like SS/History where teachers usually attempt to spot topics for SEQ, but not for maths. Furthermore when you prepare for paper 1, haven't you already studied all the topics? (maybe except stats/mech, but it's irrelevant since everyone knows option topics only appear for paper 2) If ppl are really desperate to spot, why not try spotting GP essay qns? I bet it would be much more useful to majority than spotting maths topics.

*I heard many students got slaughtered by this year's O lvl SS paper because many teachers failed to spot any of the 3 SEQ topics. I pity those students...*

Last thing, the person who wrote binomial deserves to be shot.

My com hates me T_T

My com has been experiencing several blackouts recently, even when I’m merely surfing the net or chatting. Ya, just now my com blacked out again, for whatever reason I dunno. No choice but to restart my com when this happens...sian.

In drama serials sometimes a clumsy person would press the keyboard or move the mouse of another person’s com and the screen will black out immediately. I was always very amused by such scenes, thinking, “Haha, how can a com black out so easily, must be some ancient com lah.” But after experiencing such incident first-hand, the joke is now on myself. The only difference is my com blacks out randomly while theirs black out to show clumsy that person can be...lol >_>. A com is sooo fragile, more fragile than glass. At least glass is hard though brittle, but a com is both soft and brittle. What poor analogy...nvm.

I always thought that when something is left alone without a change in external conditions, it will function normally, or be in its normal state. (erm with the exception of food) But seems like I’m so very extremely wrong. You dun do anything to it doesn’t mean it wun do anything to you too.

Maybe the previous statement above is incorrect when applied to interpersonal relationships. You dun talk to a person, the person wun talk to you. Continue like this and you’ll have no friends. So eventually someone has to take the initiative to talk to somebody else, to start the ball rolling. That’s how you make friends right? Hmm, am I contradicting myself?

The Butterfly Effect comes to my mind. (Did anyone watch the movie?) A small change in the present can result in drastic consequences in the future. Like a butterfly fluttering peacefully in a garden can eventually result in hurricane on the other side of the world. Great theory, but has it been proven?

K, I think I’ve digressed too much. Now I’ve a phobia of typing long blog entries and documents. What if my com blacks out again? Everything gone. Talking abt blog, I realized Blogger has this problem too. When I click ‘Publish’ it immediately sends me to some page that asks for my username and password. Then after I re-login everything is gone…that’s how long blog entries get completely erased just within a second. Happened for me twice. Sigh, typing the entire entry again is such a chore. Sometimes you dun even feel like typing anymore. Seems like the longer you take to type, the more probable such things will happen. So in the end, the total time taken to produce the entry proper will be even much longer…

Back to the com issue. I guess the occurrence of blackouts and errors follows a poisson distribution. If you do not maintain your com regularly it becomes a binomial distribution. It your com is down with a virus it becomes a uniform distribution. If you dun eliminate the virus asap it will finally become a normal distribution.

Food Chem

Explain the chemistry of a pizza. [10]

Looks like someone is greedy and has taken a slice.

A pizza usually consist of a piece of circular flat bread with toppings on its surface, such as sliced sausages, baked cheese, tuna, tomato sauce, mayonnaise and green peas, carrot bits, maize seeds like what you see in your char png. First of all, the foundation of the pizza, bread, is prepared by baking leaven dough $$$. The process involves fermentation of sugar by some yeast called saprophytus crevice. The yeast farts and the gas rises the bread. Its crust is rather brown owing to the person called Male Lard, who suggested a reaction between the protein and carbo. The meat on the pizza, sausage and tuna, contains lipids that readily undergo either hydrolytic or oxidative cleavage, erm I mean rancidity. It’s unwise to drool on your pizza lest the moisture and enzymes in your saliva hydrolyse the meat, producing fatty acids with unpleasant odour that attracts all kinds of kar chua. To prevent oxidation, antioxidants like vitamin C must be used, so the pizza must be washed with orange/lime juice before consumption. As for the cheese, it is manufactured via the conversion of lactose in milk to lactic acid, followed by warming to curdle the protein. However lactic acid is responsible for intense pain felt by exhausted athletes, hence undesirable. So cheese is actually not very healthy after all. The red colour of tomato sauce seems like it is being pigmented, probably due to myoglobin additives. Exposure to air is necessary so that the colour of the sauce can remain bright red, rather than purple or brown. Stress susceptible tomatoes usually produce paler colour of sauce when they are killed. The more exercised tomatoes will have redder sauce. A good exercise would be Tomato Ketchup, where tomatoes race against each other. As for the mayonnaise, it is a colloid with water as the continuous phase and oil as the dispersed. Lecithin from eggs must be added to stabilize this emulsion so that half of the pizza dun get soaked in water while another half drowns in oil. Dun put the pizza in the freezer otherwise the carrot will become muddy. Dun leave the pizza in moisturised air for long otherwise the maize seed will grow into a maize plant.

---

Ok, a wall of crap up there. Just wanted to recall my food chem knowledge. Read it at your own risk.

Didn't know when the entry proof says 'report 30 min earlier before the commencement of paper' they really mean it. Arrived at the classroom 20 min before and I think I'm the latest person. Still tot I would have quite a lot of time so brought some notes to read. Whether I did read or not doesn't make a diff cos the paper is quite easy. The first few qns weird weird one, like O lvl A Maths qns. Anyway the first thing that caught my eye when I flipped to the first page was 'Mrs Lee'...-____- And when I did that qn I really imagined her...

Chem paper 3 tmr...this time, I must really must really adopt The Strategy, cannot afford to make any mistakes le. 15 min per qn if possible.

Nite before...

It's already 2.22am...why am I still blogging? Haha, for the past few days I've been sleeping at 3am on average and waking up at ard 2pm next afternoon. So my body clock is kinda screwed up now. Maybe during the exam period I will slowly adjust back to my normal state. Now I think the first paper being in the afternoon isn't a bad thing after all, can give me some time to adjust myself.

Yesterday night (or you can say after midnight), I went ard haunting for blogs...heh heh...and left some prints along the way. Just felt bored and wanted to see how the others are coping, some are anxious while others remain nonchalant towards the exam. After that I went to sleep and had a very dream which made me cry. >_< When I woke up I still tears flowing out my eyes. Never had such a good cry in so many years. I did not cry becos of some silly stuff like someone stole my lollipop, neither did I cry becos something tragic happened nor I was touched/moved by an incident. Cried because I was lonely and people are starting to ignore my presence. Dunno why I had the sudden dream like that, I think it has something to do with my blog visits last night which made me think of certain matters.

Probably the dream is amplifying my thoughts, which is usually the case. In real life I dun really feel much abt it but when comes to a dream, the feeling induced in the dream scenario is strong enough to make you cry. Or maybe our emotions are weaker when we dream, thus we tend to be upset very easily. Or we can become very happy and excited easily too. These emotions will flow out into the dream naturally like a tap in your mind, it's so hard or almost impossible to control. However we must see that dreams might exaggerate our thoughts which is often very unlikely to happen in real life, so we cannot use it to determine our feelings towards a certain thing. But on the other hand, how can we exactly know how we really feel if the situation does not present itself in an extreme case? One might appear not afraid of cockroaches but when a cockroach really lands on his/her face, he/she might be scared of the wits. Some might argue that the extreme situation cannot be compared to the circumstances we normally face cos it's a totally different degree of severity or harshness. So where shld we exactly draw the line between 'positive feelings', 'no feelings' and 'negative feelings'?

Sry, I wun disclose my dream. It's too sensitive and personal. What I can say is in the dream I shouted 'F*** YOU!' at someone. I never do this to anyone in real life before...>_>

Hopefully it would be a dreamless sleep later.

Oh I seem to like Guo Mei Mei's new song a lot, am I normal?

And oh, I heard the movie Tom Yum Goong is very nice. But I guess it will not be possible for me to watch at this time.

And oh, (are you getting annoyed?) I watched Wu Chu Cai Hong just now. Just wanted to say that the acting is very substandard, esp from those 'students' care-la-fair. Got quantity but no quality. I think this show is a rushed project, since too many overseas celebs are involved in the filming in Sngapore so they have to finish up asap. (what a long 'and oh'...)

Last thing (I'm so long winded), for those who are reading this entry in the morning before going to take the paper in the afternoon, (which is quite unlikely): All the Best and Jia You for maths! ^_^ (and for the rest of the papers lah)

Tmr's the big day!

Not my wedding lah, haha. After the long long wait, 3 weeks of study break is over and the first A lvl paper has finally come. Kinda anxious.

First and foremost, I'm a bit tired of pasting links to videos and games already. So I'd better give everything in one shot now.

http://www.wimp.com/

Tons of videos, pics, animations, games and jokes. You can find almost everything you want there. Will take years to finish viewing them all (or even half of them), so I suggest you save the website and access it again in the future, when you're bored. The greatest find I ever had. (sry to those who already knew abt this site)

Feel like watching tonight's Wu Chu Cai Hong, even though I dun see any local artistes except Julian and Jeanette. This show shld serve as my visual campanion during the A lvl period, like Tong Yi Wu Yan Xia during O lvls and Fa Yi X Dang An during prelims. I seem to have greater impression of shows I watch during exam periods, probably becos I'm deprived of entertainment at those times. Audio companion shall be 933. Verbal campanion ah, myself lor...talk to myself lor, quite fun sometimes. Dun really feel like talking to my sis, most of time she doesn't understand what I'm saying and always reply sth like "Becos you blah blah blah blah crap crap crap rubbish rubbish poot" Can't make a head or tail out of her speech. Wait for her to grow up somemore ba...then I'll teach her everything I know, including evil stuff...muhahahaha.

Sexual companion ah? (I know a particular someone *glance at tagboard* who will surely ask me this qn so I take the initiative now) Probably the one below.

=S her hair...like maggi mee....

Of course my most intimate companion would be my com! Need I elaborate further?

Eh, I wonder if anyone watches Ming Xing Ou Xiang, nobody seems to be talking abt it, except in the mediacorp forums. No lah, I'm not very interested in that show. Just see see look look only. Can laugh at them also, if their acting is bad. Watched half the auditions last wed. Some contestants really like jokers and clowns, cannot act still want to participate. Nvm I wun blame them, at least they made me laugh. So mean of me, I'm treating this show like a comedy liao...haha.

In preparation for tmr's maths, the kind and helpful me has decided to give some tips that can prevent you from losing marks unnecessarily.

1)Functions - Leave the qn blank. Say the function has malfunctioned.
2)Transformations - Drawing any graph will do, after all the original graph has transformed.
3)Partial fractions - Do the qn halfway. It's PARTIAL FRACTION.
4)Inequalities - Stage a rebel. We must fight for equal rights!
5)Summation - Sumtimes sum people have sumthing to say to sumbody.
6)APGP - Refer to Thomas Malthus' Population theory
7)Binomial - Expand till you Explode.
8)P&C - Go to the hair salon you vainpots!
9)Trigo - Draw a tua kah soh. Make sure her legs are really BIG.
10)Complex - When asked for a complex number, write down only the real part. Say the other part is imaginary.
11)Differentiation - 1 Inference 1 Support. Dun have one of them, level zero. Aim for the highest level, explicit consideration!
12)Integration - Consult Hwa Chong Institution.
13)Vectors - A compass will help.
14)Induction - Copy and paste, so simple.

To ching or not to ching

I shudder at the thought that my blog can be simply discovered through typing a famous singer's name in the search engine. Recently many people are curious of how Ocean looks like and it's inevitable that some might stumble upon my blog when attempting to find out more about him. Not the type of publicity I would like to have but well, this is a public blog and it's partly due to my explicit comments on Ocean in the previous entry. (more like because I typed his full name >_<)

sou desu ne!

Erm, what a startling discovery. Realised that my link is just below that of the Channel 8 website. Seems like my site is pretty searchable after all.

Anyway that's not the main topic of this entry. Visited some sites today and found out that there are indeed quite a lot of Singaporeans who dislike Chinese, as in the language. Jiak too much kantang already. Saw several comments which made me rather upset. Though I speak and write english much more than chinese, I admit that I like the chinese language, as well as its culture. (When I say culture I mean mostly entertainment culture...hehe) Not going to provide arguments for or against the learning of chinese, but just give my views on certain comments made by others.

why should we study chinese in the 1st place when we rarely use it?

Depending on the individual's lifestyle, I understand that one can rarely use chinese at all in his/her life. No one can deny that it's possible to survive in the society without knowing chinese. However it's a pity when one refuses to learn the language of one's own race when given the chance. Even if one doesn't acknowledge chinese to be a language of his/her own race, isn't it wonderful to learn an additional language so as to further enrich oneself in another direction, rather than to live a single-cultured life? IMO learning a 2nd/3rd language is a privilege. Attempted to learn Jap last time, but was unable to continue due to CCA, location of school, and time. Kinda regretted quitting but no choice.

lol frankly, i m an ac guy and i RARELY use it or NEVER use it hahah

Still can lol/hahaha somemore, you shld be ashamed of yourself.

with globalisation happening everywhere, learning chinese is definitely useless. look. while we are racking our brains trying to master the wonderful culture of the chinese language, somewhere in china, the kids are learning english.

it's china that needs to catch up, can't they see?

ask the USA, the japanese and other economically stronger countries. do the majority of their people speak chinese? no.

then why should we?

english will become the INTERNATIONAL language.

if the chinamen can't speak english too well?

consider them uneducated then.

i get A1s for chinese every year.
i just don't see the point in it

I think most of you can tell whether the argument is truthfully valid or just a bunch of warped logic and fallacies.

Bloody stupid, it peeves me to see all those love notes in broken english and bloody "cute" f'kin chinese words.

Look at the way he describes chinese words. It must be a real pain for such a person living in Singapore to detest even the sight of chinese words. Sad rite?

Oh and don't go to TP, it's overrun with bloody lians and bengs who watch their bloody anime and listen to j-pop and whatever ching chong songs SHIT. i really should have gone to CJC SHEESH.

Omg those who watch animes, listen to jap/mando pop are lians and bengs? So that makes me a beng too. Can declare myself a beng already, yay! Anyway he shld not go to TP or CJC, he shld just get out of Singapore and migrate to the Western countries. Ya it's the same person as above.

Looking at these comments, it makes me worry if my current situation might land me in a disadvantaged position in the future. You see, I know nothing abt English/American culture, I dun listen to English songs or watch English programmes, I'm unfamiliar with the verbal style of English as well as common informal phrases and slangs. What if I were to meet majority of anti-cheena ppl next time in my work/uni/ns? Will I be outcast as a result?

End of main topic.

Got to know of a blog today: http://museum-of-twits.blogspot.com/
Full of criticism/sarcasms on various matters, dun get too offended though.

Is it true that popular local blogs are usually those which criticise, mock, slam, bash or flames?

Anyway here is a funny video clip: http://www.big-boys.com/articles/holditin.html
Had this kind of experience many times in the band before, when someone squeak or play a wrong note... At least I'm able to control my laughter...to a certain extent.

I'm pessed

Dear Mr Ng,

Thank you for your email.

You have been graded PES D due to your medical condition.
PES D - temporary unfit for grading and pending for further review

.......What?!

So pissed when I receive this reply. Something totally out of my expectation. Was initially worried that I might get PES C instead of PES B but it turns out to be - Unclassified, worse than getting either B or C. It has been more than 4 months since my last visit to CMPB and now they are telling me they are still unsure where to classify me into?! I knew something was fishy when I was neither informed of my final PES grade nor given any document to confirm it, as well as the missing Letter that I'm blindly waiting for, which never came. I applaude the efficiency of the medical checkup unit.

We are supposed to receive the enlistment letter prior to two months before the enlistment date. That could only mean I might enlist later than Jan next year, probably March or April. Well, if they dun decide my PES I will not even need to go NS at all >_>. Wishful thinking lah. They can take how long they want but in the end they still want you to serve NS. Even if it affects your university admission. When such thing really happens you go pleading to them it would be just futile, a sentence "Sry we dun care." to be smacked right into your face.

The more I think the angrier I get. No mood to continue blogging. The End.

Revamp

Cool, dota allstars has undergone a major revamp in its latest version 6.20! A fresh new look! A lush terrain filled with greenery for the sentinels, and a barren derelict land for scourge (as always). A new (imba) hero too ^_^. However I feel that there are far too many nerfs in this version, haiz so disappointing.

The eagerness...in waiting for the game to start...

As much as I'm tempted to try out the new map online, I think it's best for me to refrain from playing dota until A lvl ends. (Must control!) Would never know what I'm capable of if the addiction were to rise again. Why do I get the feeling that the major changes in dota usually oocur at the peak of my exam period...

Besides dota, I think some of you might have noticed a few minor changes to my blog interface. Still trying to learn how to customise my blog as far as possible. One problem though, everything in my blogger site is in traditional chinese, a bit hard to understand what a particular function does.

Argh, just realised that I've to study the lengthy food chem notes all over again! Forgot most of the stuff liao. Hmm, but I can still remember some names like Clostridium botulinum, Sacchromyces cerevisiae and...and...heck, forgot the 3rd one...nvm.
