Watched Curse of the Golden Flower on Christmas Eve at Vivo. It's a story of a super screwed up imperial family, with lunatic emperor and empress. The movie scenes give a very bright and colourful impression with the overly decorated palace and costumes (ahem!). The plot's not bad, at least I was moved by some emotional parts of the show. But seem like most ppl dislike this movie, well.
Ya, Jay was a bit out of place in the movie. It's like he would take out a microphone anytime and start singing.
Next up was Death Note 2 at the same cinema. First time watching in GV Max, quite huge I can say, lots of leg space too. Sitting at the 15th row made me feel that the screen is a bit too far, but nvm I enjoyed the show nevertheless.
The plot is a bit complicated so I wun explain it here, it's best to watch the movie on your own to fully enjoy the suspense and mystery that the story gives. Lots of spoilers regarding the amended plot from the actual comic, which I din bother to read. That's why I was able to feel surprised at the ending, haha.
I still love Misa =p
Cohesion at SAFRA Yishun Bowl yesterday, 3 years since I've been there. Bowled to my hearts content without worrying abt the price =) Haiz, but why do I suck at bowling? Could never score beyond 90 points, grrr...

Guess the song!
Was very bored so decided to host a game abt songs. (only mandarin pop songs haha, since I only listen to them)
Listen to the few clips below and guess the song! Your guess must include song title and the singer. Enjoy!
(An easy start!)

(Another easy one!)
http://www.geocities.com/littleservbot101/song2.mp3
(slightly harder this time, but easy if you can identify the voice)
http://www.geocities.com/littleservbot101/song3.mp3
(this is quite hard imo, easy for those who listen to her songs)
http://www.geocities.com/littleservbot101/song4.mp3
(i think this is the hardest...)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Can't wait for the last book to finally come out. And its title indeed reminds me of Bleach lol.
Still remember the case where a hardcore Harry Potter fan committed suicide becos he knew Dumbledore died before reading the book? Hopefully there will be no fans crazy enough to do that this time, esp when it's rumoured that someone really REALLY important is going to die in this book. (shan't give spoilers but i think you guys shld know who liao) Dunno whether true or not...
That's all for the book, since not much information has been released. As for the movie, the first trailer of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is already out:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/harrypotterandtheorderofthephoenix/
Did I see a kissing scene somewhere? lol.
Still so far away and they release trailers liao, like Spiderman 3. Yup, prepare for numerous movie outings in the middle of next year...lots of good movies showing at that period.

It's snowing! (III)
Does this title sound familiar?

Nearly forgotten abt this entry but the faithful December rain will always remind me. =) It has been raining non stop for 3 days. Not surprised if any area was flooded. Maybe we shld shoot a film titled 'The Sinking of Singapore' (shi1 cheng2 chen2 mo4). Even better if we name it 'Sinkapore' lol. Ok not funny.
It seems most camps are very vunerable to rain, you will surely get wet if you were to travel within the camp without an umbrella. That really sucks if it rains very heavily in the morning when you have to report to camp, which is what happened today. Got drenched at the bottom even though I carried an umbrella, all becos of the strong wind that flipped my umbrella inside out. (remember the Sn2 mechanism for nucleophilic substitution?)
What an erratic weather. Rain and stop and rain and stop. Just as the rain stopped, dark clouds started to approach again, then rain. Before the ground could dry, rain came again. Just as I tot the rain's finally stopped, it rained again. Ok I give up.
Yup, this significant entry marks 2 years anniversary of my blogspot blog. To anyone who still remembers my very-the-colourful geocities blog before, I think it looks very stupid.
Ya, it also marks (more than) 1 year since I left schooling. Sigh I miss studying.
I vowed not to countdown towards ORD until I reach at least the halfway mark. Counting up to 8 months of NS service! Yay =p

Thoughts on Star Awards
Watched the Star Awards ceremony last night. As a mediacorp drama fan, it's an event that I greatly look forward to every year, but was kind of disappointed after watching. So many screw-ups and things I dun really feel comfortable with, compared to the previous years.
First of all the venue: I tot having the ceremony outside studios would be a good change but realised it was actually a bad move. Obviously it was too cramped. The artistes were seating so close to the mini stage, so close to one another. And it looked as if only 3 rows of artistes were watching the event (cos the back rows were too dark). Because of limited seats in the small hall, fans were not allowed to enter and as a result the atomsphere seemed so quiet, without any cheer and screaming. A lot of cold moments (leng chang) due to 'lack of appropriate response'.
Secondly the time management: Every Star Awards in the recent years always have this problem of overrunning. At one point I was surprised to hear that the ceremony was underrunning and hence the usually quiet Qi Yu Wu had to extend his speech which became so long winded. But what happened in the end? The event had overrun too much that Bryan Wong was not given time for his speech when the credits suddenly rolled out, much to my astonishment. No conclusion was given. I really dunno what the organisers were doing when they requested winners to make a 3-min speech. Can't they let things proceed at its own pace? Underrunning is much better than overrunning.
Thirdly shock awards: Was very upset that Constance Song and Ann Kok did not win best supporting and best leading respectively. I tot they had the most potential and most outstanding among the other nominees. Their acting skills is wo men you mu gong du de. After much thinking, Hong Huifang and Ivy Lee are not bad too. Probably we were so used to their superb skills (in their numerous exposure this year) that we took it for granted.
Once again Huang Yiliang made a bu san bu si speech which made him seem mentally unsound. Can't he leave his wife Lin Meijiao alone? He keeps emphasizing that she never wins...so rude so inconsiderate.
Sad that Jacelyn Tay did not win Top 10. Shocked that the kelong Michelle Chia and Rui En still manage to cling onto this award. Fiona Xie finally made a comeback after her last win in 2001! Chen Weilian, as expected, would win anything that requires voting by call.
Quite a pity that most ppl dun really understand the humour of the lengthy sketch by the 3 comedians. I believe it's a parody of an incident which happened in Taiwan, which most Sgeans are unaware of, including me. Ended up not very funny after all.
I actually enjoyed Nick Cheung and Jessica Hester Hsuan giving out awards, both of them are so funny. (notice the height difference too) The 5566 pair were rather lame lol.

Re-IPPT
Took IPPT again this morning, after the prev one just less than a month ago. A bad thing in transferring from Army to Air Force: IPPT records get lost in the process too, haiz what a SAF...
At least I still maintain a pass, haha. Quite a disappointing result esp since everyone ard me is getting silver. My physical ability is really substandard lah, if nobody forces me to train up my laziness will prevent me from improving.
Bai Wan Bao is so funny! Haven't seen a good comedy drama for a long time... Pan Ling Ling sibei ugly lol.
Li Jiawei ah Li Jiawei...why you always lose whenever the match is broadcasted live. >_>

MRT deaths
Shocking! 2 MRT deaths within a week! It seems like the sensationalised media coverage on the Chinese Garden MRT suicide not long ago has backfired badly. Now the media hardly reports on such deaths, probably in order to avoid dramatising the incident or giving a benefit of sympathy which indirectly encourages ppl to commit suicide when at their wits end.
There was a disruption at Yishun MRT this morning during the peak hours, causing many to be late for sch/work as well as for fall-in in my camp lol. Heard it was a MRT jump...sooo expected. No news abt it though.
There was a death last sat too, at Admiralty station, reported as an accident. Who knows if it's really an accident or just a cover-up by the media. Hardly any news on this incident.
Few weeks after the Chinese Garden incident there was another death but the news was brought across lightly without much information...
So many MRT deaths recently since the Ang Mo Kio incident, let's take a look at history.
List of MRT jumps/falls: (in chronological order)
16 March 1997 - Kembangan
29 September 2000 - Kembangan
4 December 2000 - Eunos
30 November 2002 - Marsiling
11 January 2003 - Ang Mo Kio
30 July 2004 - Bishan
31 August 2004 - Bukit Batok
31 August 2004 - Redhill
15 September 2004 - Bishan
25 March 2005 - Buona Vista
28 December 2005 - Kallang
16 October 2006 - Chinese Garden
30 October 2006 - Clementi
2 Decemebr 2006 - Admiralty
5 December 2006 - Yishun
I dun think this list is complete...I remember one at Lakeside, no?

JLPT
Took JLPT (Japanese Language Profiency Test) this afternoon at a Japanese school in Changi. The location is so inconvenient, so ulu and there is only 1 bus. As a result many ppl took private transport or taxis which caused a jam at the narrow 2-lane road outside the building all the way to the expressway exit. Drove there and was caught in the jam, then had to change lane forcefully. With the help of my mum I was able to get into the right lane by squeezing in between the corners of 2 cars. Haha, what a challenge!
The test was held in classrooms, which seem to be for lower primary students cos the tables and chairs were so freaking small!!! Had difficulty tucking my legs under the table, and the chair felt like a stool to me, can't rest on the back and relax. Luckily the duration of the papers was short, as I was getting backache and headache from bending so low while doing the test >_<.
Listening comprehesion was a killer, as most ppl would agree. Very unsure for most qns, even 'tikam' for some. Each passage was only read once, so that means if you din catch it for the first time, that's it. Really need to buck up on my listening skills, argh!
Hope I can at least get 75% overall...
Went to Tampines after that to buy Final Fantasy XII to reward myself for the effort put in studying for the past few weeks (actually it wasn't a lot). Shld have more time to start gaming now.
On my way home saw many army personnels booking in, haha, esp at Pasir Ris. =p That big black bags they carry look very familiar...
Went to my sis' childcare centre yesterday to watch her perform for the sch's graduation ceremony. Glad to see her perform so well and enjoy herself on stage. Kids are indeed buay paiseh one, can call out to parents halfway during performance, walk around on stage like it's their home, laugh halfway when performing, etc. Though it was just a simple ceremony with minor screw-ups here and there (like dropping of props/costumes, curtains pulled the wrong side), I was really entertained and amused too =P. How I wish I could return to my carefree childhood days...
