Reunion

Wanted to blog abt last weekend earlier but decided to push it to today haha. Like why the movie 'The Leap Years', which was actually filmed 2 years ago, finally to show up in the theatres today =p. Nice to clock a rare and unique date in my blog too haha.

Met up with my technician course buddies last Saturday. Haven't seen them for more than a year le. Then went to catch 'L Change The World'. Good movie, albeit draggy IMO, but still enjoyed watching esp L's antics. And I realise the Death Note directors are so sadistic cos they like to film ppl die in a very ugly manner (literally 死得很难看) esp the traumatic death of the lab professor lol.

The following Sunday, attended the next 04S34 gathering organised after a good 1 year+. Made me feel like returning to my JC days. Youcheng said I 变老了, which is quite evident from the photos. Rougher skin, thinning hair...really Uncle Rong liaoz. Thanks to Saykai for reviving the class blog with pics. Let me kope one from him haha:

It was a short but enjoyable dinner. Looking forward to the next one. Hope to hear Youcheng sing 黄昏 soon haha.

Last but not least received my JLPT results! 100/100 full marks for vocab section! 74/100 for listening and 187/200 for grammar. Total 361/400 which is abt 90%! Only 2 marks lesser than last year haha. So proud of myself hee... JLPT 2 here I come!

April 18

18th of April seems to be quite a significant day for me. With notable events happening on that day on certain years.

- Day of my first SYF competition during Sec 2. Was feeling very tensed on that day and shook with fear on stage, so did not perform as well as expected. Became a sad afternoon upon hearing the shocking results and almost everyone ard me cried.

- Day I failed my first TP test. So silly to mount kerb at the crank course. Quite disappointed as my efforts in practice sessions (and $$$) had gone down to the drain.

- YF's birthday! Used to have a countdown in his blog haha.

- Last but not least the day I get back my pink IC and freedom! Coincides well with YF's 21st birthday. Can have a big celebration together that night haha.

Bad week

Right after the fulfilling CNY holidays, this week was a rather bad one. Felt feverish and had sore throat on Mon. Guess this is the post-CNY syndrome that most ppl might experience. But couldn't take MC as I had to help out with the unit celebrations held on the following day.

When the celebrations finally ended, I kena-ed hives attack (aka 'hong mo'). Probably cos of the seafood I ate. Looks like I shld avoid steamboat for the time being. It lasted for 3 days, and the first night was really bad. Working in an aircon environment made it worse. Once again, couldn't take MC cos of guard duty.

Must really watch what I eat...my body is so sensitive...

Anyway here's a fun online game site: (have been playing recently)

www.viwawa.com

The Mahjong (Wahjong) game is really addictive haha.

Here's a cute MV of the little alien in CJ7. Theme song 'Qi Zai' sung by S.H.E.

CNY 2008

It has been a fun CNY this year, with me going out every of the 4 days enjoying myself. After much difficulty in jio-ing ppl out, I could finally get to watch all 3 movies! Yay! All 3 were good, but none were extremely impressive IMO.

CJ7: A heart-warming family-suitable movie. Some parts made me feel like I'm watching a cartoon haha. Heard many exclaim "So cuuuuuute!" when the alien dog first appeared. Not as much action and comedic scenes as Stephen Chow's previous movies. Oh ya, the 'boy's' acting is really good!

Ah Long Pte Ltd: Kept me laughing every few minutes or so. Not as bad as the reviews described, I guess the reviewers are really biased against Jack Neo. Mark Lee indeed outshined Fann in this show with his sissy gestures and Malaysian accent.

Kungfu Dunk: Full of action scenes. The best would be the fight in the wine restaurant. IMO the throwing and dunk scenes were a bit too repetitive, and Jay never misses. Jay is still acting like himself haha, being quiet and having the stoned expression.

In order of liking, I would put:

1st) Ah Long Pte Ltd

2nd) CJ7

3rd) Kungfu Dunk

The mahjong session on Chu Er was fun! I wonder how much I could have won haha. Lets play with money next time!

Blog song changed! Here's a light hearted song from Joi.

Have to go back to camp later...argh!

Are we over-reacting?

Lets take a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYuIg7Tnc7g&e

Saw it a few days ago but din expect it to make it to the headlines.

Though it seems ironic that a country, with majority unable to speak English, criticised a nation whose official language is English, I can't help to admit that some of the things mentioned were indeed true, like '发音句尾上扬'. But that's how our unique Singlish sounds like! And it is not as if we are incapable of speaking proper English when need arises.

Looks like not only Ang Mohs can't understand our Singlish, even our fellow Asians (with a common language) find it hard to catch too.

This video spurred a fury among the netizens in the forum I frequent, so much that now everyone's talking abt it. Even the blogs of the guests who 'complained' abt Singaporeans' English were flamed and bombed lol...until they had to post an apology.

Now everyone's being anti-Taiwanese...anti-Kang Xi Lai Le, anti-Taiwanese variety shows, anti-Selina, anti-Jacky Wu (unknowingly pulled into the scene). Aiyoh... Is there a need? Are we being over-reactive?

Angsty Singaporeans...getting angered by trivial matters.
